questions on the sr20ve ecu.
starting a ve swap and was wondering if i get my hands on a sr20ve ecu would I have to send it to calum. or can I just us that ecu. alot of guys on the site send in sr20de to calum for the basic. also would I need a msd rpm switch to activate the vvl or would the sr20ve ecu already have that built in the ecu?

Calum cannot re-programme a 20ve ecu. If you want a Calum-tuned ecu, you would need to send a b13 or u13 (sr20de) ecu. Though I think Calum is not taking any orders now.

The sr20ve ecu will be able to run your motor. Do you have the sr20ve wireloom?
The 20ve ecu limits at 7200rpm and will have 180kmh speed cut. The vvl will work fine but it comes in late so you wont have a a lot of fun, remembering the ecu limits at 7200rpm. No fun.

You can use a msd or vtec controller to lower the vvl points.

Peace

If you use the ve wiring loom your best bet is to use ve ecu.
It activates the soleinoids from factory although a bit late.
It can be reprogrammed and make a huge difference from stock with lower vvl points, altered fuel and timing maps, extended rev range, removed speed limiter etc.

If you use de wiring and ecu you need external device for vvl activation.

It is about 700usd for real time setup (just plug cable and tune yourself)

Or the alternative is about 500usd for installed and tuned board for your setup.

No additional devices, no rewiring maf and distributor.

For the real time setup i am talking about maybe I am the only one who does it this way.
For the other solution you can contact bazza1600 or cb_drift that are closer to you.
