Thread: ASP Budget Headers on B13/N14 Chassis

Well, since im one of the first on here with the headers, and this chassis i'd thought i'd post up how we went about making them fit.

a) Installation was fine, I dont have air-con but we dropped the crossmember to get them in
b) They foul in 2 spots - one of the primaries on the crossmember, and also the rear flange fouls the rear engine mount

For the rear flange we just ground off a little of the flange until it cleared ok.
Crossmember took a little more work....

Great post. I didn't think mine were hitting but I am going to check asap and I will report back here with my results.

I managed to get the header in without taking the cross member out, however I had my fans hooked up as pusher fans, so they do not get in the way.

Oh, and if you do try and get it on without removing anything, unplug the alternator from the battery so you don't short out across the header, yeah that gave me a jump.

it was only hitting a small amount at both spots, but definitely enough to know there was a problem.
Cant be 100% sure there is an issue on anything except the N14 chassis, just that the B13 is probably the most similar

Yep, that's the spot on my crossmember, #4 primary. Used a BFH to make room, wish I had the stuff to do it like you did, lonewolf.

Yeah well those two spots are where it was closes to mine. I am going to take some dental floss and run it between the spots I think it might be hitting and find out.

I am still amazed how tight this damn thing fits under the motor!!

Sorry about the fitment issues. I'm not sure why some cars are not affected and others are. Some hit in some spots and some in others. I have fixed the problem with the rear motor mount clearance but now i'm not sure if i can get the 3" pipe to fit through to the cat. I wish there were actually people up here in WA that would actually buy this header and or loan their car so i can completely re-check these issues and modify everything.

not a big deal on my front, I knew there was likely to be issues since you guys dont get the N14's over there

When originally designed and built this header did clear all B series chassis and P10/11 just fine. I only have full access to P10/11 because thats what I own. I have to borrow B13/14's and only when they are available. The fitment of this header i guess you could say is based on the B chassis that it was fitted on. There is a lot of crap going on with this header (meaning a lot of pipes and takes up a lot of room) compared to a SSAC or something else, but this does make a lot of power. I do want to see about redesigning it to fit better but it is hard to do this AND keep the price down.

Nice post lonewolf. I guess i need to modify crossmember too on my N14. I dont think, LHD is different in that way. Anyway, its not big problem.. just little cutting, welding, paiting.
