The only reason to swap is for marginally higher comp pistons with the RR. The internals are almost identical except the advantages of the VE. I'd just run the VE bottom if I were you. There is no advantage to the RR bottom end.

If you run the RR bottom end then just have an engineering shop tap and install the oil squirters in the RR head.

I'd like to know if the grooves in the mains are there on the VE motor for sure. You can off course also have that engineered.

Yes. I cracked my VE open and they were there.

some advantages over RR bottom end:
-no need on external oil supply to VVL solenoids
-piston oil squirters
-better oil pump
over a regular DE bottom end are same as above plus
-4CW crank and no girdle makes better for quicker revs but the 8CW crank of a DE is preferred if you're planning on revving over 8,000 + RPM

the ve has a 4cw cranks ? pretty much its just better going with a sr20ve bottom end ... i just was thinking i can buy a rr motor for 300 bucks which i can and transfer the parts but if its not worth it ill just have to buy a sr20ve and see the head

I'd say keep the N1 as is and buy a SR20VE if you want a 2.0. The SR16VE N1 is one of a kind and there's not too many around.

I sold that block to Keo a few months ago. The only pics I have the bearings are still on the journals.
