0w30 castrol
so my car chewed threw 2-3 litters of this in less than a week! no clouds coming from the exhaust car pulls great no leaks of any kind does smell of oil though the blowers in the car when stationary after a run...

any ideas? or is it just because its to thin?

Its is to thin.

Use 10W 30 when it is warm (65*-100*) and 5W 30 when it is a cold (30*-65*)

0w30 is too thin?

0w30 is the same weight as 10w30, just doesn't thin out as much when it gets hot. It is thin when cold, but when is that a bad thing?

I suppose on a built engine with loose fitting parts it would struggle to get oil pressure up, but I have used the 0w30 with very good results. Never had oil pressure drop below 25psi at idle, even when rediculously hot.

i have no problems with it as well in the 135k roller rocker. idk how it would be any different than using 5w-30 and 10w-30.

heck the 0-30 german castrol is more like a 35w when warmed up.

Check the PCV valve, it might have gone bad and allowing your motor to suck in oil from the valve cover.

Looks like that is on the valve cover. There is a hose going from it to the intake manifold.

What does keepin oil presure have to do with oil consumption?

His motor is losing oil, he is not losing oil presure.

BlueRB240 is right about changing the PCV valve. That is a common problem.

I have found when I put in my cooler months mixture of 3Qs 0W-20 and 1Q 5W-30 oil, my engine will eat between 1.5-2 Quarts within 4,000 miles. When I am up at 10W-30 my motor will go 4000 miles with maybe a 1/2-1Q top off.

could i just remove the pipe and disconect it from the rocker cover? run the rocker cover to a catch can? then block the inlet manifold?
