Thinking of building a new VET
Just throwing this out there in case mine blows up from running too much boost. I have a roller rocker just chillin here, a customer spun a rod bearing so we put a new engine in and kept this one. I bought it for $100. I was thinking of doing a solid 400whp on pump just like my current engine. Something like VET pistons and GTIR rods would be awesome but I don't know where to get these.
I will be putting my current VET back together on thursday if possible. About a week and a half ago I ran the engine without oil and fried all the rod bearings causing the engine to seize. After tearing her down the bearings are toast, the big end of the rods are discolored. I am going to reuse these rods to see if they can handle the power still. But the big end of the pauter's are black from the heat. I had them inspected and the shop said they are straight and balanced. The engine seized without breaking a rod so I am going to use the pauters again and see what kind of abuse they can handle though they are discolored and rebored.
Before I go on rambling, the build is going to have 1.2 bar, VE crank pulley from Greg V, some cam gears to fix cam timing issues, new motor mounts and a few other goodies.
Hopefully this motor can handle 17+ psi of boost when it goes back in on friday. If not, I will blow it up and build the RR engine block and throw a ve head on it.
