Car won't idle????
Ok, I just got done finishing my swap and wired everything up including a greddy mss and the car will not idle.It revs fine, but starts to die once you let off the gas. Does anybody have any reason why this would happen? I have 1 wire from each solenoid going to the battery and then the others are going to the yellow and green wires on the mss. I think I was able to configure the mss, but the car won't idle???

Anybody have any ideas?

thanks

btw I am using a calum ecu with a VE, N60, 333inj. program.

Now I figured out some things first i found out that I didn't have the line coming out of the iacv plugged into the intake. I fixed that and then it idled, BUT it seems like it is running n the big cam only any solutions?

btw couldn't drive it because i have to bleed the brakes, but thats enough for the day and night! Tomorrow is a another day. Almost there baby!

The display of the MSS tells you when the high cams are activitated. It's the little "1" and "2" at the top left of the display. They turn dark with the MSS feels that the conditions have been met for completing the ground to the cam solenoid. This is an easy way to check whether the high cams are on all the time, in which case it's probably an MSS programming or set up problem.

Ok well it still doesn't want to stay running. It starts and then just stumbles and dies. I think the mss is fine (not positive) anybody have any ideas why it won't idle?

I mean when I drive her she almost feels to fast??? I know that sounds wierd but that is how it feels, now I unplugged the selinoids and it didn't change anything so I probably don't have the mss right even though it is reading right?

I really need this car for dd duties so any help is apprciated .

Here's my exact quote when I sent you the BIN.

"I'd recommended putting this on a wideband immediately as every setup is different and may not work on your setup."

I hear you and I never used your bin. I went with calum base bin.

Ok here is yet another idiot move on my part, the whole time I thought I was burning chips I wasn't, so thats why my car wouldn't idle. I put in the basic chips and guess what she idlesd , but at like 1400rpm. I have to check the timing and work on the mss, which I really don't understand. I mean I know its working because you can feel the cam switch over, but it actually slows the car down. Now this is all with calum's basic n60 ve bin. I want to try yours jonathon and from what I can tell your bin is richer then the calum basic but has more timing.

Wide band is going in this week.

Well I'm glad you started with the Calum bin, that's a relief. Compare the K values on the two bins, I may have made adjustments to the overall fueling there. The timing map on my BIN is from the 16VE, but I thought that's what Calum was supplying.

Did you hook up the coolant lines on the throttle body? The VE has a mechanical cold idle valve which is adjustable, this could be your idle issue.

If you feel a power loss with the cams switching, then they're being switched too soon. Move the switchover up until the transition is seamless.

I'll give you a call when I get out of work.
