SR20ve vs SR20 RR Distributor
Is the SR20ve and the SR20 Roller Rocker distributor the same? My good friend tells me they are the same but in terms of internals, sparks etc, are they really? want to know if i can replace my broken ve distributor with a rr one/

Peace

Thanks.

They are not the same.

In the USA there is 1 type of RR dist. We use thos on the VEs and the B14 harness plugs up to it.

In Japan there are 2 types of RR dist. One looks like USA one and one looks like VE one but to make the latter fit you will have to cut off the aluminim ear on the bottom that the bolt goes through. So the newer version of the JDM RR dist will plug right up to the harness, but you will have to grind off the lower ear.

I have a few VE Dist for sale if you need some.

Found one that has same connection as mine, but we had to change the the metal part (braket) as it would not bolt up.

Also the round part that goes on the cam was a shade bigger.

Wonder which motor it came off?

Running fine now since we did the modification.

It came off of the newer RR motor. You did everything I told you to do from up top.

Btw, there are four different distributor caps depending on the year for roller rocker, ve, and late 99 de, and 99-01 G20(all use same distributor, but diff caps). I had a tough time trying to match it through gspec because of this issue.

You are confusing thinbgs by bringing in late 99 DE. Which has nothing to do with the VE.

The RR and 99 DE have nothing incomon when it comes to Dist cap and rotor.

RR all share the same rotor
and when you go down to the Autopart store you will get the correct cap when you say 00 RR B15

BTW, Dre, can u pm me a price on the ve distributor. BTW, what do you think of using the SR20DET or the De dizzy that uses the external coil? Heard they are better and this is my 3rd ve dizzy. If you have, please pm me price.

My electrician says I just need to re-wire if i get the external coil one.

If you are killing you VE dist you have a problem somewhere. There is no reason for a dist to go like that. A stock dist should last you 10 years - 150,000 miles without a problem

The newer DE, RR and VE distributors work fine with no problem past 400 WHP. So there is no need to upgrade it as you will never past 220 WHP if you dont build a big motor.

Not sure how I could be killing my motor when the diagnostic shows evrything is ok (except the CPS in the dizzy which caused me to change) and I have very few mods:

Calum basic
60mm exhaust with stock ex manifold
Pop Charger
12 degree base timing
Genuine Nissan plugs - heat range of 6.

Guess I will just see what happens from here. It's just that I hear the ve dizzy tends to give problems even tho I'll admit my fellow ve buddies dont realy have a problem.

To be honest I killed 2 of the dizzies when I had the sr16ve ecu and emanage set up and even the last one that was damaged was on the car for a while with that set up, so as I said I'll see from here on.

Peace
