Just gonna clear up some misinformation.

DO NOT use a DE spacer on the VE motor. You will most likely crack the oil pump drive when you torque the pulley down because the spacer goes in deeper than the drive.

The DE crank pully is thicker & needs some material machined off before it is fitted to a VE. Putting it on as-is could damage the oil cover/seal.

The VE crank pully has less material so you need a spacer if you put it on a DE.

You can run the DE crank pulley on the VE and there will be no issues with the front cover clearance. The only issue is that the belts will be slightly misaligned, but it will still work just fine. I have had the DE UR pullies on my VE for close to 80k with zero problems. So either run it how it is, machine down the part of the pulley that rests on the spacer, or go with the gspec pulley. Those are your options.

I have tried the "misaligned" belt routine before and it can cause the belts to jump off the pulleys when bouncing the rev limiter. So I went with a GTiR pulley with a VE/GTiR spacer.

The VE pump and GTiR pumps are very close, but the GTiR pulley gives more clearance to the pump cover. So you can use the GTiR pulley on all SRs, including VE's. Why not just make one part number and just sell everyone the GTiR pulley so it just fits everything with the VE/GTiR spacers? The spacers are the same size.

Here is the difference between spacers. What material that isn't there is made up for on the pulley. The VE/GTiR pulleys have less material, thus they require a larger spacer, or they will hit the pump cover.

The DE pulley has more material on the pulley, so the spacer is smaller.

In this last pic you can see that the VE spacer sits nearly flush with the oil pump drive, so if you use a smaller spacer with a VE pump or a GTiR pump you could bottom the pulley out on the pump drive before you actually bottom out on the spacer. This cures nothing, it doesn't space the pulley properly, and it can possibly damage the drive.

So I was wrong before. You may not be able to use a DE spacer with a VE pump regardless of pulley. Hope the pics help.

Does anyone have a pic of the DE spacer and pump installed like the one above for comparison. I think the issue is the pump drives are located differently on the VE and GTiR pumps compared to the DE/DET.

I would do what was suggested early and have the actual pulleys machined just a lil bit. This will give you better wear on the belts and keep one from coming off on the strip. No water pump for a couple seconds in boost can be a bad time.

Lets say you machined the DE UR pulley for a VE, and then you wanted to use it on a DE again, what would need to be done?

Get a VE spacer. Bam, done.

This is a pretty indefinite definite thread.

I've been using a machined UR pulley on my VE for maybe 2 years. I just took the two pulleys the the shop and explained them that I needed the UR pulley to be like the VE pulley, they measured how much they ad to take off, and it got done. I believe they took off like 1/8 of an inch, can't remember for sure.
