VVL Engine Swap Planning – Questions??
Since my SR20DE fell victim to rod knock now’s the time to do something I’ve always wanted to do –go VVL.

Here what I’m wondering…
1. Will my UR pullies from my SR20de work on the VVL engine? (2 pulley set)

2. ECU – I have a JWT S4 program on my current ECU - does this need to be changed? If so, what to?

3. N1 Cams. Are these even worth it? Where do I get them?

4. Is the reline on the VVL 7K vs 7.5 for my engine now? Will the ECU let the engine spin to 7.5 RPM’s without the rev limiter kicking in? This doesn’t seem like a good thing to me…

5. Header? What are all of my options??

Any other advice would be great. Thanks.

1. Don't think the crank pulley will work without a spacer.
2. It would need to be reprogrammed for the VE 333cc injectors.
3. Phase2Motortrend has them and yes they are worth it over the Auto cams that the SR20VE comes with. SR16VE/SR20VE N1 camshafts might want to call and make sure they have some in stock.
4. 7500 is fine you will peak around 7100-7200 on the stock cams so 7500 is fine. The ecu will let it spin to 8k if it's programed for it .

For the ECu will I need a cam program also or just the 333cc injector program?

you seem to be talking JWT lingo. It will be easier for you (also cheaper) to get a calum basic ecu. Tell Calum which MAF your using and injector. Also, state what your mods are. He will put a program on there that will run pretty strong without being dyno tuned.

prob a good idea to get it tuned if you can.

198-203 WHP right here. 13.3-13.6 @ 102 MPH on slicks.

SR20VE
N1 cams
SSAC header
3inch exhuast
Calum ECU
Maxima 95-99 MAF
JWT Pop Charger
WAI Aluminum 3 in intake pipe
G Spec Crank Pully

Everything above that will take some money and alot of work.

^^^ i think i would still go the budget header at non group buy price over ssac

Now that's what I'm talking about!

More questions:
Does the engine come with a MAF? Can I use the stock MAF from my old SR20de of should I just get my hands on a Maxima MAF right away?
Same for the ECU, will the engine run on the stock or JWT S4 program ECU of should I get my ECU "Calumed" first thing?

Why? Better header? More HP? Lasts longer?

I'm a 100% NOOB to the world of VVL. But I like what I'm hearing so far...

this is my suggestion.

sr20ve.
thermoblock spacers
n1 cams
snickers budget 4 2 1 header
ebay wai intake
pep boys pop charger/adapter
bc springs and retainers
calum realtime ecu
get it tuned
210 but prolly more whp with a 9000 rpm revy.

it will kill on the track ! you can cheap out and get a 150 dollar ssac 2.5 header and a calum basic ecu and save a few bucks. but go the extra step and you will have a killer track set up !

stratton.
