Not Revving Past 5k - SR20ve
was travelling about 200km/h when I got a rev cut and needle dropped to 0 and back up.

Continued driving and then it cut again at 5000rpm.

Would not rev pass 5000rpm.

Went home and parked the car.

When tried to start about 20 mins later, it didnt. When it started for 1st time it revved to 1500rmp then died.

Disconnected AFM (after consulting a friend), and put it back on. After a few more tries, it started.

Noticed that before this happened I was getting a kind of not so smooth rev between 5000 and 8000rpm.

Car seem to be ok since it started back.

What could be the problem?

What should the afm (stock ve) voltage be and how do I check that? What else can I check for?

set up: Calum ecu, 16ve cams, jwt pop, 60mm exhaust, evil vtec controller

Thanks

well mine did it eveytime it hit 2k rpms, clean your throttle body, maf sensor, filter really good with throtle body cleaner, maf cleaner, and probably just wash your filter and oil it and let it dry that could be one solution, it fixed my problem.

Thanks.

As I said, the car is fine now. I had cleaned the filter and used some WD 40 on the AFM connector but think I will now clean the Throttle body.

Peace

We checked the car today.

Only thing we found was the tps grounds (pin # 21) in the ecu seem burnt. the tps wire and connection seem to be ok so I will replace the tps and see.

The car acted up once today.

i wouldn't use wd40 on any electrical connector. (but thats just me) most muti-pin connectors are happiest when they're clean and dry. wd40 leaves a residue (hence the name wd for Water Displacing). try some contact cleaner or 90% denatured alcohol instead.

Change the dizzy, or you can use bak the coil and change that other half - part that plug wires go on.

BTW,

big thank you to THOR for helping running again.

Peace
