Who races a ve setup against a stock de with no mods? Its usually a bolt on de with cams vs. a busted up , ragged, slammed together last minute, stock everything , open header ve, running on stock ecu with timing not fully advanced slowness. -=sigh=-

depends on the ECU.
My stock automatic ecu on my VE wasnt anything special until it hit VVL at 6000rpm, then cut out at 7200rpm.

1. Adjust timing properly.

2. If no better, go to a dyno when you buy your exhaust.

3. Dyno your car to see if there is indeed a problem. You can bolt on your exhaust at the dyno shop. Retest.

Step 3 is key, because right now you're just guessing all over the place. A few dyno runs will cost about as much as a ghettofabulous eBay header.

(on second thought, I just thought of something...you could get Dynolicious and an iPod Touch, just as well)

not all of them, different maps and obviously different cam change points and rev limits...
Just saying, my VE with the same boltons and the stock ECU was not much quicker than my DE.

Something is bad wrong. What MAf/ ECU are you running?

^I was thinking the same thing. 173 with N1's?

Joe you and i know whats up when it comes to this! Fast and reliable is possible done cheap if you drive a sentra!!!!!! HAHAHAHA

^I want to run a VE when I get my DE all together. I bet it will be tough down low. The SR16VE tranny is the truth on a fully bolted DE. I got first hand experience with that . We need to look at your pistons .

Step 3 is absolutely the key to getting a VE to run properly. A friend of mine has a VE, it runs nice but was never dyno tuned. Plug and play if you will. Rodney's DE with S4's can walk all over it. Spend about $200 for 2-3 hours of dyno time and you will like your VE more than any DE (not T) you have ever driven. During my last dyno time, we changed the switch points 8 runs in a row until we maximized the curve. You are leaving meat on the table without tuning.

^ Exactly thanks for the credit! A VE needs to be tuned on the dyno!!! You guys that just go out and try to follow the "recipe" need to understand evey motor is different.
I personally have put the spanking on a few VEs that thought they were fast!!

Wish I could find someone to dyno tune mine...just rednecks out here, lol
I would go to Orlando, but I havent heard of any shops that will know the VE,and make me get my $ worth on the dyno.
