nope, either something is seriously wrong with the dyno or something is bigtime up with the so called franklin stage 3's we got with the head purchase last year. I had doubts because the cams wierd and didnt look like they had alot of lift. Plus both the intake cam and exhaust cam had the keyway for the distro and it seemed fishy.
But the car was not holding topend power at all. I spent a good hour getting the timing map and fuel maps perfect i mean any changes i would do even major changes would only affect the numbers by like 1hp at the most up or down.
The ending numbers were 146whp and 125wtq For one i have the vvl triggering too low which could be a reason for the low torque. Again this is a healthy motor but something is seriously wrong with the cam setup for sure. We are gonna start by taking the cams out and putting them at 0,0 im also gonna mic them and compare to other peoples n1 cams just to see what these things are cuz its redicoulous. The peak hp was being made at 6700. This has extensive mods on it. At a minumum it should have mad 180whp with a bad bad tune. Neways i got the timing map perfect matter fact i took care of alot of partial throttle and high load lowend pinging due to excessive timing and bad fuel curve. That was about the highlight of the day. Ill say this the car definetly drives hell of a lot smoother but just does not have any topend whatsover.
It has to be a cam issue is what im thinking. Again you guys might be right about these not being no franklin cams cuz again some people have clearance issues with the de pistons and others dont but we will see when i mic them. Horrible day.
Another reason i think the dyno may have been reading low was we dynod my buddies freshly rebuilt 4ag ae86 corrolla with intake, header, 2.5" exhaust with no cat and it made a whopping 91hp and 68ft-lbs of torque. A stock one does 115whp. So who knows. Neways the numbers are definetly low though for sure and just the way the topend feels is dead. No matter what the changes i made it would not make much of a difference at all. 18 pulls later we just said screw it. final a/f was around 13.5:1 accross the board. I mean it held smooth and steady with a nice timing curve as well. There was nothing more i could do. Something is definetly up.
Ill keep you guys posted when we pull the cams out and mic them and reinstall at 0,0
