I know, that some ECU's when chipped will nto read over 8325rpm or so. Its because for some reason the rom wont go further than that. Have you contacted JWT to ask? 9krpm on your tacho is probably more like 8300rpm as well.

I'd bet it's shutting off at 8,250RPM.
If I remember correctly, that's the max limit the ECU can handle.
When my tach reads 8k, I' really only at 7,500RPM.
So when your's reads 9k, I'd bet your probably hitting the 8,250RPM limit.
If you want to set a rev limit higher than 8,250RPM than you'll need an external rev limiter, like an MSD D6+ or something.

^I asked JWT I wanted the ecu with no rev limiter. They probably did a mistake and programed it with a rev limiter.I have a Calum ecu with no rev limiter.Im going to install it today and see what it does.Thats the only thing I think is causing the rev issue.

For you guys making up numbers.... The highest rev limit possible on stock firmware ecu is 8012.5.

The ecu has no problem going above this however and just reads from the last table cells and continues on. Talking with calum you don't get into number overrun issues till something like 11k rpm and it fails at like 13k rpm....

I put on the Calum and it does the same thing. The good thing when I installed the Calum is that it has less timing and the car runs better.

The next thing I'm going to check is my valve shim clearance.I had the head shimmed and ever since the head was alittle noisy.I'm also going to change the ignition. What else you guys think I should check?

Have you hooked up a diagnostic tool?

Wouldnt rule out the distributor

Mr Wright. would you tell me how to set a "NO Rev Limit" on a Calum b14 ECU using Tuner Pro RT?
