since this thread was about your custom N1 IM, which was meant to increase air flow and velocity, charles i have a related questions then. if i were to use an N1 TB on a 20ve IM using an adapter, what gains should i expect? would the bigger N1 TB increase air flow and velocity within a stock 20ve IM?

Not really. the plenum on the std manifold is smaller than the N1. The std 60mm T/B really does not become restrictive till over 220whp. If you are running very high rpms all the time, then the throttle body will become a restriction but not due to lack of flow.

wow that was fast...

anyways, in short, gains would be minimal to none on an N/A 20ve making under 220whp?

getting to a real 220whp SAE takes a bit on its own, or more like the right parts all together. Once you get to about that point you will need a lot more intake flow.

Hey Charles. Amdeman & I both get similar power figures from our engines but his car makes power all the way to 8,300rpm & mine is making power only to 7,300rpm. The Kelfords should make power to 9,000rpm.

I have the stock intake manifold & Adrian has the N1 manifold so could this be the difference?

When I had the Burns collector on & it was killing the flow (my fault, not Burns), she made power to nearly 7,600rpm. Once that was removed she picked up power everywhere but... the peak came down to 7,300rpm. I'm wondering if I could be outflowing the standard intake faster now that the exhaust breathes better?

Previous dynos you've done have shown the N1 to make very little difference on a bolt on engine but I'm wondering if I should test one on my built engine & see if it's a worthwhile addition when we get into the higher HP figures.

Unless of course, you've already done this testing on a built 2L... IIRC the N1 is still restricting Chris's engine but his overbore build is in a different league again.

Why aren't you guys just welding "D" plenums onto the runners w/ raised velocity stacks...much more simple and a whole lot cleaner inside and out.
