I know that e85 is hard to get hold of in australia lucky I got a place near my work pluis it cheaper. getting good fuel economy once it wass properly tuned. There is a mining truck worker Chris in Newcastle with a VE with nearly 13:1 compression using e85 in his weekender, its the imfamous 2.2L VE engine tho it rattles louder than a deisel mining truck with all the abuse its had.

boosted ve engine with e85 is where the real fun is though

^^^ so you are running e85 on your build?

What compression, and what gains did you feel when you made the switch?

tbh i haven't heard of that 2.2l diesel truck ve. Sounds tough and thrashed so it gets my respect lol. Has the guy ever hit the dyno or the quarter?

also i will be running 13.5:1 comp (sr16ve pistons) i am eager to see how it all turns out, I think its good comp for e85. The car is going to be a thrasher so will defiantly run no cat, no air con, and probably no mufflers

That's what I like to hear!!!

I am running a +t setup on my ve with e85. gains fron petrol to e85 was around 20% gain once the final dyno tune was done. i have been playing with the settings myself lately so it feel stronger dow low not sure what sort of gains it made but it makes it easier to drive.

the 22ve engine was in a pulsar that got stolen and was recovered. engine had a rough rebuild after getting it back and it never run the same since. the engine is going back to its prevous owner for a rebuild though soon.

^^^ ok cool. Yeah most turbo cars i have seen have a 10-20% gain depending on tune, however i dont think i would expect this type of gain on a standard comp na build.

sounds to me like you have wacked a snail on a standard ve and decided to tune with e85 to keep it plenty safe. Ill probably tune my ve+t build for 98 but want to do an e85 tune as well, just to see what it can make, but worried the 850cc's wont cut the mustard

sucks to here about the 22ve getting stolen, sounds like a tough car. Was it a stroker or overbore?

my motor is not standard previus owner spent some serious cash on it

the 22ve was a tomie stroker engine but unboosted engines still has good gains even in stock engines

^^^ cool good to know there are still some good gains to be had from a relativity stock set up. I thought there would still be gains toi be had, obviously as much as turbo, but sometimes you have to expect the worse and i have had no first hand experience with e85 and na motors
