Yes, yes, and yes.

I'd certainly trust the guy that responded wihtout question on this one.

The VE, any of them, would be an upgrade from most DE pumps, especially if you also swapped to the VE oil pumps / front cover.

Autozone has water pumps that match the VVL redesign. I bought one there while my VE was apart and compared them. They looked identical. Watch out for the cast-iron looking water pumps though. They have a really crappy designed wheel.
