12.5:1 2.0 pistons
jsut a quick question droping the 12.5:1 mazworks pistons in a 16VE would give 12.5:1 compression will they as there designed for the 2.0 what would they give?

roughly 9.5:1 compression....

are you just trying to do a sr16 engine build for high HP I assume? If so, then go 90-92mm bore, brings you up to 1.75 - 1.8L

no i havent the money for that at the moment im just getting a rough idea about the capabilitys of the 1.6 engine..

and was looking that if you wanted to go turbo you could use the 12.5:1 comp pistons and it would infact give a nice compression to run boost through..

my sole plan at the moment is just to get my 16ve in my N15 and have it running like factory on the standard loom ecu ect before i start messing it seems such a shame to take it apart at the moment its done less than 24,000KM and is like brand new all the bolts are still the factory gold finish even got the buildup markings on the cam shafts ect..

i havent seen such a clean second hand engine in my life...

Holy crap thats clean! you sure they didnt just push the car around for 24,000km? haha....

I'd keep it together for a while atleast and get it making some power with boltons...

well i dont know the actual age of the engine.. there rare as hell over here in the uk i know of 2engines and 3 actual VZ-r's i was searching for prices of GA16DE's on uk ebay.. and there was a picture of this engine the title was ALMERA 1.6 engine it had no bids and no reserve! so i e-mailed the guy saying how much to buy it now i got the engine shipped to me for £350! the advert said it was under 24K but i dont know if its true the guy didnt know what engine it was as far as he was concerned it was just another almera 1.6 engine with a painted valve cover..

but thats how it arrived at mine clean as that all the pipes are still gold no corrosion the air con pump looks brand new all the cast iren brakets ect re still black and clean..

so you can see why i dont want to take it apart.. hence why i was asking you about bolt ons ect..

so for an SR16 low boost set up, the CP 12.5:1 pistons will be a good choice? would it be 9.5:1 with stock headgasket i take it?

dude with the 12.5:1 pistons you would have 9.5:1 in a 1.6 a few have already pointed out that because of the decreased stroke the rods are realitivly understressed so can take alot more than if you had the 2.0 crank in.. eith forged low comp pistons with whats been said onm here i dont think it would be unreaswonable to look at 1bar to 1.5bar of boost with good mapping..

if you ahve the money dude do it but i did a quick add up alst night and i carnt even afford the a GT2871R to start with i have a GTiR manifold and elbo but then you need intercooler pipes exhaust oil and water feeds and an ECU setup to run it then it needs mapping somewhere and most places here are lioke £75+ an hour your looking at a few thousand...

i probably will go for it dude, i have GTiR manifold, oil and water feeds arent a problem really, i would get a turbo technics T28 (the same as stu's) and i have my unichip already there for mapping
