My car for example is running the de box (because the gear spacing is better then sr16) with the 4.785 fd and shorter slicks to cross at almost peak power at 4th gear at 116.

Just go in the calculator and play with slick size and final drives. Either run a taller slick and hit the top of 3rd or or make more power run a shorter slick and get into 4th.

this is what i am doing aswel with 4.785 fd in the sr16ve box, my car is only 1.6 so i need shorter gearing

Only problem is 4th gear is a part of the stack and we can't just switch the 4th gear. But this imho would be the best option if it were as easy as just swapping the 4th gear

Only problem there is the sr 16 trans has shorter 1-3 but shares the same 4th gear as the de box. So you have a big dead spot in the track when shifting from 3 to 4th. That's why a de box is better because the gears are spaced more evenly and shares 4th gear

I'm looking at that 4.78 fd with doubt

Your traps is gonna be about dead on with what the dyno is reading with full weight car. With that tranny you gonna be slower shifting to 4th so you just gotta hold it in 3rd.

Another thing you could do is run the p10t trans. Iirc its 1st and second are the same as de but longer 3rd.. to help you stay closer to your peak whp going through the traps in 3rd.

Actually it might b only the jdm p10 trans. I'm not sure you'd have to check w miko, he's the guy who told me about it.

i know my car dies when i hit 4th but still its not as bad as have a really long 3rd as the acceleration up through the lower gears makes up for it
