Mysterious:: Sporadically have misfire like symptoms on VE, need ideas
Been driving around the VE on DE maf and DE ecu for a couple months now, been running great until a couple of weeks ago one morning I start it up and it idles like it has a misfire. Almost like one of my vvl solenoids is engaged.. I dont' even have them hooked up any longer so unsure on that one. The car bogs like a mofo under acceleration, almost as if my timing/fuel is completely off. I have my timing at 21* or so right now which has worked just fine in the past. If I am reading the Techtom right it reads that under accel the ecu is pulling timing... Only thing I can think of is if the Ecu or Maf were bad.

Odd thing is that it will happen all day one day and then go away for like 5 days then come back all of a sudden and then go away. Very sporadic which is throwing me off.

One thing to note is that the other night it was idling really bad, buddy pulled the aicv plug off and then plugged it back in before the car died and it went back to normal for a couple days. Was messing around with it tonight and noticed that if I pulled the plug to the AICV off it doesn't affect the idle at all.

Has anyone experienced this before?
Any ideas?

Maf tests good, maf ground tests good, coil tests good, swapped ecu's.. ecu is good.

to me it sounds like something is comming loose, or something moves around an when it is in a certain position it doesnt work right..

for it to work fine for a few days, then all the sudden not work fine... then go back to workin fine again... somethings gotta be bad/loose

hope you figure it out dude, i hate trouble shooting

How is your fuel pressure when this happens?

My drops i believe. Does yours drop as well because then we have identical problems.

look for spliced wires or hacked harness. this usually causes this,

WOW, spent all day trying to figure this out. Replaced cap and rotor and plugs as precaution as they weren't in the best shape. Tested near everything on the damn car. Went to go get some good gas up and street and was messing with the harness to the ecu and I swear my idle was changing etc.. Got home and not sure what urged me to check but I started fiddling with the injector harness... Cylinder 2 injector clip had a loose connection. Fixed it and the car runs like a champ now!

SeriousJDM:: have you pulled your plugs yet to check to see if you can see variance between cylinders? Mine was so bad it sounded like a Subaru.

HKSP10, I was a little sketched because the harness had a bit of splices by the ecu that I thought might've been causing some issues but in the end was just some jacked up connection in the injector clip.

glad you figured it out man, i knew something had to be loose, cause usualy if a sensor or other hardware is bad it just stops workin...
