The biggest deal is the tuning and intake flow. The stock intake manifold can flow enough for 200hp no problem. The N1 cams, and a GOOD or GREAT header will make power. Tuning is also a big aspect as the sr16ve motors should make power closer to 9000rpm for peak.

you do not need N1 pistons to run N1 cams. N1 pistons are only different because the cylinder head is shaved from the factory.

So you are saying that 190whp is possible with only N1 cams and your header?

and tuning

so it would need a stand alone to get up to 9000rpm N1 cams and a full exhaust.. with tuning should see good number..

so those pulls were WHP? standard SR16VE has 144WHP thats sweet they quote that as the stock fly figures for the RR DE in the uk GTi's

One of the motors had FCR carbs on it, the other I think was just a stock intake manifold cut open and ported out a little, still on the 60mm T/B i think.

With the correct tuning, and header, if you notice they are pulling peak power much higher than say 7500rpm. If you are making 145whp @ 7500rpm, then that is 101lb ft tq at the wheels at that rpm for peak hp. if you move that 101 lb ft up to 9000rpm, then that is 173whp, just from extending the powerband. I will email them and ask for more specific details but that is all that is all the told me when they said how to get more power from a sr16 setup.

throwing in everything N1 excluding the actual head will still not put you where an N1 is. the head is different. It is shaved and there is some port work. Now.. I would say buy a real N1 head, new pistons, and then build the head over time with supertech valvetrain and have oversized valves alongside with maybe some more agressive porting. N1 cams would probably work but who knows what would be better.

Snickers, what do you think an actual n1 will make with the mods your talking about and can you be more specific im really intrested!

I have an n1 with 2.5" exhaust, ssac 4-2-1 , apexi intake, tuned ecu reving to 9000rpm.

I realise the ssac isnt optimal but i do feel its better than the stock secondarys at the very least. The stock primarys are similar enough to a fujitsubo.

How much more power would you expect with your header? Would you recommend adjusting it to suit the n1 1.6?

Unfortunetly i havent hit the dyno yet.

my buget header should work really good on a 1.6L motor as well. I dont have anyone to try it out yet tho, but i'm pretty sure it will make a lot more power over the SSAC. one of my friends making 186whp on a sr16ve with FCR carbs was using a Gen 6 header. He was thinking about getting one of mine and trying as he thinks he can get 200whp with it.
