This has been proven time and time again.

0,0 or 0,-2 makes more power everywhere over +5,-5.

Your problem is not cam gear settings. Its headers, good flowing exhaust and a tune.

I dont know why people keep doing this.

Another misnomer:

A CAT isn't as restrictive as most think. I had a STOCK SE-R cat on my build prior to putting a high flow cat in, and it didn't make any difference...

Just sayin'.

Isn't rule of thumb when using N1's to set both cam gears if adjustable at 0,0 then go from there?

Yes it is. You will find that there is no need to go much past 0,0. Depending on the setup.

The only other variable that comes into play is if the motor was taken apart and machined. You will find for every few thousanths removed from the head and block, the 0,0 point for the cams will change. Get a degree wheel when this is the case and dial the cams in.
