Thread: Sad sad N1 cam dyno results

well I just had the car dynoed yesterday with some realy depressing results. Only 181.7hp and 140tq. And power dropped off at only 7256rpms! Thats after some tuning! I started out with only 170 hp! I'm only making 5 more hp than my stock cams and the same amount of tq. Here's my setup.

'98 sr20ve w/N1's stock valve springs +4 in -4 ex
custom header 4-1x25" long
2.5" exhaust
9lbs flywheel
Apexi wai
DE maf
Calum basic DB
Cam switch at 5500rpms

The tuner and I think its the cams being degreed wrong. He suggested putting the exhaust back at 0 and kepping the intake at +4
The tuner has the dyno sheet I'll post it up when I get it.

What were you using to tune the car? Seems to me like somthing is off big time. Did you mess with the cam gear settings at all?

Calum Basic DB and tunerpro. I did'nt have time to play with the cam settings.

Here's the better bin.

Throw up the dyno sheet. Is the motor tired? Shoot some pics of the engine bay too with the header.

The motor is far from tired. It's the nicest one I've ever seen. dyno sheet is up.

im wondering if maybe the header is holding you back, the car is peaking early too...

Just found out my oil cap wasnt tightened down all the way. Would that make a difference?
I think the #4 spark plug wire was not on all the way. damn

i dynoed that on basic sr16 cams...
timing set to 0,-2 by previous owner on calum basic

set the gears to 0,0 an start from there... leave the vvl switch @ 5500 but when dynoing rev to 8k.
tune the cams with air fuel or egt gauge
mess with the fuel pressure regulator as well.
something with the timing is off

also make sure your @ 15* degree timing off distributor
