Thread: How to tell if i have a 16ve N1 tranny?

I just bought a nx2k and it definitely has a 16ve tranny, but he said it was a sr16ve N1 tranny, so i want to see if there is anyway to find out? I can tell you one thing the shifting in this rranny is amazing compred to a stock b13 tranny besides the unbelievable gearing it feels like its a gated tranny, its hard to explain in words, but simple fun to drive and in desperate need of a 5th gear, which i will be doing this spring after the turbo b13 is running

My stable is starting to look pretty nice now: I have a FLAT BLACK gtir powered 91 se-r with a gt2871r and supporting mods and now a fully built EGG SHELL WHITE NX2000 with 12:1 compression, bc3 cams, s/r's to match and full bolt-on's

Yes I am because they came with the car along with the springs and retainers, so I had no choice and "IF" I keep them then yes I will defintely be grabbing cam gears asap, because they aren't kicking in until 5500+ :o
And it is running and will be tuned tonight and I am running some sr16 pistons.

What do you mean in need of a 5th gear? You mean a 6th gear?

Is it hydraulic?

A friend of mine has one and it's hydraulic compared to the sr16ve cable tranny.

Nope not the same :

Thats my old SR16VE Tranny I owned it for like 5 yrs...I babied that tranny Dunno how the HELL 5th gear popped out... I sold that tranny with about 30k miles (I put about 7-8k miles on the tranny) ....

The ribs on the tranny ( i hear other SR trannys have ribs too)

As I said the 16ve is cable tranny, the 16ve N1 is fluid clutch.

well it is cable, but that could have been changed. I guess I will never know unless I see one in person to compare
