cam angle sensor and vtec-actuator from P12 onto P11-head
Two simple questios about sr20ve-heads:

- Does the cam angle sensor from P12 fit to the P11 Head?
- Does the "vtec-actuator" from P12 fit to P11?

Both the cam angle sensor and vtec-actuator from P12 are physically shorter and fit better in the engine bay of the s14 240sx.
Thats why i ask.

Thanks
Dino

Yes the cas from a p12 will fit a p11 head.
"vtec actuator" ...if you mean the solenoids at the back of the head, then yes p12 also fit the p11...they will just activate both cams at the same time instead of independantly.

On of the holes doesnt line up for the p12 solenoids on p11 head, i'll try get photo up shortly, i'm just horribly hungover right now and its all just a little bit too hard

Here are a few pictures comparing the P11 and P12 solenoids and cam angle sensor to the VE distributer.

The P12 single solenoid is on the left. It is a little shorter.

This is the P11 head.

This is the P12 head, you can see that the middle of the three bolts on the right is in a different position compared to the P11. The other bolts line up fine.

ok, i conclude that i can put the P12 selenoid-device onto the p11 head by using just 5 bolts of 6. And the cam-angle-sensor will fit 1:1.

nice

It looks to me that

a P11 selenoid will work on a P12 head

but

a P12 selenoid will not work on a P11 head

The hole placement under tha cam bar is the problem, can be fixed in a machine shop if the notch out that space-grove on the P12 selenoid housing. If you dont fix that the intake cam will not get any oil to the rockers.

correct, you need to get in there with a ball nose cutter and extend the slot. If you overlay they p11 gasket on the p12 solenoid it is immediately apparent

äh, jep, you are right andreas, after staring 10 minutes onto the photos i confused myself. I have to do some milling on the p12-selenoid to extract the whole exactly like the p11-device.
Btw, i can see four wholes in the selenoid. The big in the middle is the feed line with a small filter. then there has to be one whole for the exh-cam and one for the inlet cam, and propably one whole where the oil is just passing the selenoid back to the head when the low cams are activated. What whole means what?
