Reason I ask is because it's actually pretty bad to bounce off the rev-limiter once you are in the 8000rpm+ category. You can do some valve damage from the physical act of hitting it, throw rocker arms, etc.

If you throw a VE rocker arm you have to take a pic and show us lol.

I was moreso referring to my DE because I hit the 7750 or whatever it is limit all the time

I hit the rev limiter while looking at the MSD window switch ouput - from the best I can tell, it hit just about at 8000rpm. Which doesn't make much sense because the motor pulls very nice still at that point.

Go-fast goodies are JMR header, 3" exhaust, custom cold air intake, N1 cams, supertech valve springs, and VVL set to engage at 5200rpm. Considering how hard it pulls right when it hits the limiter, I'm thinking it should be set closer to 8800rpms or so, although I guess I have to consider the previous talk here that once it's set above 8200rpms it no longer cuts anywhere.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, or why you'd make a joke about blowing a motor

Id put money on that your making more power at 8800 than you are at 6800.

You have springs and retainers so you have absolutely nothing to worry about anyways.
Only real way to find out is to go off your graph unless you didnt take it to 8800, well then you would need to redyno.

You know how in a bolt-on modified DE, you can sort of "feel" it dying at around 7500rpms? With the DE, it make sense to cut the fuel around there. But I can tell you, that relative to the other SR20's I've driven, this VE feels like it wants to hit 9000rpm+ if possible!

lol, again its possible, my buddies car did it all the time and he was again on stock springs and retainers. Again never an issue. 3 years of torture on that motor. When i tore it apart for my build the valves had never contacted the pistons and again he mis shifted several times sending the tach needle into the stop peg. So who knows what it hit on a no lift shift that was missed.
