Nissan as long as you have springs you can go as high as your motor will go. 9k is fine on springs.

Your going to kill your motor with some nice valve float. But you will learn the hard way.

So whats max rpm on stock SR20VE?

7500 to keep it safe. your peak power is @ 7100-7200 then it starts to fall like a rock. Revving the stock cam out to 8k on a N/A motor isn't worth it.

How high can I rev (safe) a N1 cams in a sr16ve head (with stock springs and retainers), with sr16ve piston (dome shaved 1mm.) and DE block?

Thanks

I have heard that 9000rpm is safe with stock springs/retainers with the N1 cams. Can anyone confirm this as the case. Pretty sure that snickers said some people have run 9500rpm without issues. So 9K should be safe.

I really just wanna say that my head is 100% stock. So if I could run the N1 to 9K and be safe I would do that in a heartbeat.

9000rpm with n1 cams isn't necessarily "safe" on stock 20ve springs, but has been done by quite a few people with no effects. 8300-8500rpm with n1 cams and stock 20ve is "safe". After taking Charles (snickers) advice , my conclusion seems to be a more conservative-medium approach than what some are doing with the stock springs. Coheed, you quoted snickers on the subject in this same thread with this, but your asking again??

"SR16VE cams are ok to 9000rpm on stock valve springs.

SR16VE N1 cams I have seen motors at 10,500rpm on stock valve springs but not that I would recommend that.

VET cams i'm not sure as i have not measured them and checked the ramp profiling.

20V cams are ok to 8000rpm. These are more aggressive than the std cams and have more lift. Its actually just the intake cam thats the problem for valve float, the EX cam is actually fairly smooth"

n1 cams have slow ramp angles so sr20ve springs and n1 cams is common practice. Hell there is ALOT of NZ and greek guys running Std SR20ve springs with aftermarket cams, not something I think i'd feel comfortable doing

But at the end of the day its what YOUR comfortable with. for the sake of a couple hundred dollars or what ever it costs for valve springs. its pretty cheap piece of mind. Especially if you've got a bit of money tied up in your block and head.
