Thread: resonator suggestions & part #s

im upgrading from my old 2.5" to 3" and am having a hard time finding part numbers for the resonators that others are using. from what ive read 24" (overall length) is the longest i can fit in my b13 while keeping the cat, but what about the width? i was initially looking at the magnaflow 12649 6" round resonator but since im lowered 1.7" im worried about ground clearance. i want to keep it as quite as possible but im aware that im obviously not gonna be sneaking up on anybody.

I know those work very well. it should fit behind the cat but I'm not 100% yet haven't done it. My friend used it to replace his cat, he had the lame VRS exhaust on his NX and his cat blew out. Put this in place and his car isn't loud till the cross over happens.

I'm sure this with a cat would quiet down any exhaust very well. It looks like a very quality piece. Fitment though might be a different story especially behind the cat. It does have an oval shape which i think might pose a problem it fitting within the skinny exhaust tunnel behind the cat.

oval body is what i dont like and its only 14 inches long. behind the cat i can (from what ive read) fit up to a 24" resonator and id like to use up as much as that space as possible.

It's not a cat, it's a resonator. It works very well since my friends car has the factory SR20ve 20V exhaust manifold to 3" downpipe back to 3" exhaust. Without Vibrant resonator and just the VRS resonator it gets annoying really quick. Like I said I'm not 100% because I haven't got my car on the road yet.

I have custom made 421 aircraft stainless resonator. 24" overall 6" dia. 3" inlet. This maybe for race rars only. I have not tried it with a muffler. It meets the noise leavel of 98db of a 103db max. by rules. The entire assembled pipe is lighter than the old resinator it replaced. If you guys like it I can find out how much each.

from your description that resonator is the same dimensions as the magnaflow i mentioned earlier. how is your ground clearance?

Same dimensions. Clearance is good. The photo is before the clamp went on. tucks up in there better than I thought.

Hey SERacer, do you have a reliable place you buy perforated pipe from? I've only seen it come up on eBay a few times... Doesn't have to be stainless.

This piece was all custom made hand drilled holes. The only other pipes I can get is container loads from China. Sorry.
