I will be changing the tranny fluid this weekend. I will be switching to shock proof from mt-90. I have run shock proof in my turbo car since I put the car together in and its still in one piece. I would like to see proof that it causes hp loss because I made 342whp at 15psi on a gt28rs. Hoenstly its only thick when cold and the fluid does heat up quick. I will take all the protection I can get I have broken a b14 tranny stock.

Almost forgot, and you probably know this....

Upgrade those tranny/motor mounts. Window weld, Prothane, whatever..... It will help to keep the (crappy B13/14) tranny case from twisting and flexing.

As far as I am concerned, anything to help keep the B13/14 trannies from destroying themselves is absolutely critical. More critical than 5 horsepower, unless you are a quarter-mile freakazoid, can rebuild your own tranny, and simply have to shave that next tenth of a second.

I know for damn sure that when my B13 transmission inevitably takes another dump, that that son-of-a-bitch inferior, piss-poorly designed, under-engineered, peice of sh*t transmission is getting replaced once and for all.

Not that I'm opinionated on the subject or anything......

I have always used shockproof and have had polyurethane shore 90A filled mounts since I have turbo'd my car. NEVER broken a transmission yet, currently putting down 334WHP and no problems as of yet.

I just did a VE swap and personally put in the lightweight shockproof, only driven a few times so far with that in it but seems to be fine. I might switch to the superlight weight depending on how it feels when it starts warming up.

FYI I used heave shockproof and works fine even in 30* weather. I am sure it doesn't help with drivetrain loss because it is so heavy etc.. until it warms up but I haven't had any side effects.

I have broken third gear and the car making just 175whp.

Since then I am using Genuine Honda Manual Transmission oil. BTW, I live in tropical climate - Jamaica.

Peace

for the VE guys go with the mt90, its GL4 rated, which does not eat brass and is recommended for our gearboxes. Not ideal for turbo of course.

I have the same experience. No real issues with the heavy shockproof except every now and then when I first start it its a lil hard to shift. I have the stronger p11 box which is why I wanted to try something a lil lighter if possible. But this stuff has worked amazing thus far.

I think the decision is more based on how you drive. HP comes into play, but if you tend to be more gentle of a driver compared to more aggressive then you will have better luck - i.e. do you fully let off of the throttle between shifts or do you power shift? I make sure the car is fully in gear, then get on it.

I run SP Heavy in my VE car because it is built for a road course. I wasn't concerned with a couple HP loss since my car (when driven) gets abused on purpose. I drove my VE yesterday and it was 18*F when I pulled out of the garage - it was a little stiff.

The warmer the temp the less you can tell a difference. I figured it was better safe than sorry. When I change my clutch in my DD G20, it will probably just get MTL or MT-90.
