As kurt said I dont think bluetops are much slower Then a redtop

I own a version 1 redtop and have had bluetops keep in with me

But IMO it is due to my driving...Im new to high revving etc as used to on a turbo
So its still new to me and still gettinh the hang of it where as the people i raced have owned there cars longer and no them inside out and better drivers

But on a track i reckon It would be differnt

But on a drag i could still see the n1 doing better tuns then vzr

But 14.3 Not IMO

I would say around 15s or high 14s...yet to get mine out on drag

If you play with your ecu you will see that the n1 (version1) timing map is not good.

The version2 timing map is better imo. But they still dont run the timing of the standard sr16ve (probably because of the compresion). They run a little more at high rpm but the normal vz-r has much much more timing everywhere else.

Fix your timing map and you will slay the vz-r's.

^^^yeah x2

does anyone have a screen shot of these maps (fuel and timing)? i know our calum ecu base maps are based of the maps, but it'd be nice to know which version he got his info from since there are 2. maybe we can get some improvements.

remember it is still only a short stroke 1.6 litre, of course a de should beat it at the quarter mile. Take them both through the hills, or even to the track and see which one you like better

Would you like to explain about the "more engineering" please. I am keen to know what this newfound information is.

Plain and simply their a slug with a badge that says N1. The earlier Autech version HN15 Serie deserved the N1 badge more than the N1 did.

^Thats going a little far! The n1 is absolutly deserving of the n1 badge its just nissan needs a kick up the ass for the rubbish job they made of the ecu. And the secondarys back on the exhaust. The gears third and fourth could be a little shorter if it was a perfect world aswell.

Im totally convinced they detuned it for street use expecting the owners if they raced them to put in aftermarket ecu or tune the stock one to suit their racing class. Then when they got bad press IE BM videos they brought out the ver2 with the better timing map which still isnt good enough.

This thread shows the n1 version 1 and 2 timing maps. You guys in the states have the sr16ve map to view for yourselves as calum converted it for the 20ve guys.

So there is three maps N15 vz-r SR16ve (SR16ve N1 ver1) (SR16VE N1 VER2) that i know of there could be a couple more different maps from the b15 vzr etc etc.

i am more referring to the whole car, rather than just the engine, things such as suspension, brakes etc. But since you are on engine, look at how well the n1 head flows at low valve lift compared to the 20ve, look at how aggressive the cams are in comparison, so much so that companies struggle to make a better one etc. The engineering is there, you just dont notice it as its restricted by the poor factory secondaries and tame ecu maps....both of which are easy to change

I got a 15.56 in my SR16VE powered 5 door hatch. Same drag day as Crackerjack got that 15.18. There was one N1 N15 there that day although I'm not sure what times he was getting. About the mid 15 mark from memory. Maybe he should have removed the abs fuse .

I don't remember seeing a VZR running in the 16s on that day.
