Well theres at least three vz-rs in the thread i posted that are around that time. They are deff better than a 16.3

E/F/T B16b ek9 type r's run 15.2 consistently. I think 15.3-15.8 is the area we are looking at. Drivers make a big difference and as has been discussed these engines seem to vary a bit. Some people get good ones that go well some dont.

From everything I have seen from Japan.

The SR16VE N1 N15 197 hp is said to be faster than the EK9 Type R Civic 185 hp.

The standard SR16VE 175 hp is said to be faster than the EK9 Civic 170hp

Model EC/ED/EE/EF 1987-1991

You could get this bad boy with at 2,286 lb so consider the HP listed below.

the later years of the second generation, the JDM version adopted a 1.6L B16A engine that produced 158 hp (118 kW), and was the first to adopt the name "SiR" instead of Si. With its light weight, independent suspension and powerful engine, the car was well-received globally, receiving “Golden Steering Wheel Award” from the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, and ranking first in France’s L’Automobile Magazine 1989 survey on car quality and reliability.[5] The European model badged as a "1.6i-VT" used an even more powerful B16A1 engine, which had a 9200 RPM redline and made 189 hp (141 kW).

When the few lads in Ireland had a dyno day in 2006...the N1 made 188bhp (fly) and quite afew others over have said the same thing about other N1's they've been in....Bluetop VZR's are not that much slower than N1's...you'd probably notice the difference if you could drive like Keichii.

My Dad's EK9 would do low 15's I reckon....it was similar performance to my old detup when It was 135WHP (bolt on DE) and I ran a 15.1@90mph in full daily trim on that setup.

the relatively narrow power band and weak torque of the sr16ve doesnt work well on the strip

ok first of all the n1 vzr was not designed to be a drag strip warrior!

it was designed to be a really fun, high revving, Japanese mountains car. And it is! the engineering of the n1 will be realised in this situation.

remember it is still only a short stroke 1.6 litre, of course a de should beat it at the quarter mile. Take them both through the hills, or even to the track and see which one you like better

I think that time is possible but not on a stock version 1 n1.... no way. Lightened with a few mods maybe.

The timing map on the version one is fubar. Thats why they underperform imo.

If the car performed like the one in the best motoring video which im sure is a version 2 it might get close. I think that car also has the closer ratio nismo box.

This isnt brain surgery. ek9's are solidly low 15sec cars. With a bit more power and torque a PROPERLY running n1 will be quicker. 50kg of weight is easy to find.
