Has anyone tested headers back to back on a higher comp/worked VE? Maybe Me/Cory or one other? I for one have dealt with higher comp/revs and have seen the difference 4-1's vs. ssac's make. It's always peak hp. Start looking under the curve.

Every setup is different. Instead of going into a big discussion I will sum it up at that. Maybe Supercowboy will be kind enough to post the 233+whp (dynapack) 13:1 VE that has the budget header on it that was done last week.

More details, motor specs please Feel free to PM

i know exactly what your saying jamie.

13:1 huh, just goes to show how much ve's love compression, this was with a stock head with n1's and a budget header ?

if so nice.

I for one had the best results with a regular old off the shelf Fujitsubo header.

Thing is the average VE guy is just a stock bolt on motor. These motors are only going to make so much whp regardless what header is used. You are not going to see a huge difference. The difference is when the motor gets built. We can only gain so much from a stock motor IMHO.

look a bit deeper than peak numbers, ppl!!

not here to beat up on anyone but, you as well as anyone know there's a lot more to a dyno sheet than peak power. it seems around here, thats all most ppl look at when they decide if a product is worth the price.
on my car the dyno sheet in big bold numbers emblazoned across the top shows.

max power=190.5 max torque=142.0 for the ASP
max power=186.0 max torque=140.3 for the FUJI

thats only 4.5hp!! for god sake! why the hell would anyone plunk 7 large for that? you said it's not worth it.
because that number is @ the power peak with each header. which was ~7200rpm with the fuji and 7400rpm with the ASP. by 7500 rpm the gap widens to ~6-7hp. by 8000 rpm the ASP advantage grows to more than 10hp!
my dyno sheet also shows a corresponding torque increase across the power band. in the meat of the rpm range where most ppl spend 98% of the time, the budget header shows as much as 6 lbft over the fuji.
i paid ~ the same for both headers, which would you chose?
when my build is nearly done there will be another budget header for sale here. mine. to be replaced by another ASP, designed for my engine.

in summary, dudeman and mera red nailed it.

N/A Horse power is NOT CHEAP. For those contemplating the ASP budget, "to each his own" but for a 5-10 Peak horsepower increase a simple bolt on header is awesome. 5-10 HP is what can push you over the 200 mark and push you past the competition. If you're cheap, don't build an N/A motor.

It truly is incredible how many people take a few of the facts and turn that into the gospel, leaving out a huge chunk of the story. If you picked the wrong header for your setup, YOU screwed up, not the header salesman. Man up people. Quit flapping your jaw about poor performance when you don't have the sense it takes to build the engine properly in the first place.

STRATTON, you never answered my questions.

Didn't you have an ASP header?
But you didn't get any gains right?
