We have seen a 23 hp gain in the midrange just from changing the activation points on a car with N1 and ASP header. Original point was at 5,300 for the intake and exhaust, change it to 5,700 intake and 6,000 rpm exhaust. Just be aware the activation points is very important for mid range power. It doesn't do anything for the high end however.

I would say the ASP gave you a solid 7.4 ftlb/10 Nm gain below 5,000 rpm. There is no disputing this because the gain was made below the activation window. My guess is that the ASP gave you 8 hp in the midrange but not 15 hp like other have said.

If you are going to try +5-5, you will gain even more midrange but will lose out on the top end and the peak when come in sooner. It a compromise when playing with the cam gears.


The alteration of vvl points gave the most of the gain.

Like I said, I was expecting gains similar to what was seen vs the hotshot header, but I guess the Xforce header is a pretty good piece.

maybe the ASP header works a lot better at -5+5 cam gear settings than the current -2.5+2.5.

Here are some from someone else.


These dyno numbers may seem low but the dyno is calibrated differently and reads lower. This car makes low 200's WHP on a Dynojet SAE corrected. This is not my car, this was a 3rd party dyno test that did not involve me.

basic typical setup with SSAC header to ASP 4-2-1 header BOLT ON no tuning done. The SSAC ( lower HP) was fully tuned before hand.

Blake i thin you guys might be able to get more agressive with the tuning in top end.

Theres stil a few hole in the dyno that have no real reason to be there.

traditionally if you have you VVL switch points good, there is normally a pretty linear graph. See what you guys can come up with - but i know its more money.

mines about as smooth as you are going to get it, the dynapack dyno torque graphs all look like that...

timing and fuel were both adjusted from what I could tell, with no real impact.
Any money i spend on retuning comes out of the fund for the new intake manifold discussed previously, and could be time wasted.

if there was a gain from the headers and exhaust flow, it would have shown up, irrespective of tune (as noted by the graphs snickers posted above)

I would have to disagree, this car will not make 200whp sae on a dynojet. Not even close. Dyna packs can be calibrated to read the same as a dynojet but not less. Definately not 23 whp less.

You said it yourself, you were not present and have not touch the car. That is a big assumption about making 200whp from not having any first hand sighting or experience of this particular dyno.

Based on the dyno graph, I would say this car is a g20 with the tall gears(130+mph), dynoed in 4th gear, running sr16 cams.

I would really like the owner to chime in.

Other than that I say your header gave a nice gain over the SSauto.

The saying from me about that dyno reading less than most dynojets I did not make up. I talked to the owner of the shop because of the "low" numbers and he told me that an S2000 (AP1) dyno's only 5-7whp more than the car posted and thats with a full cat back exhaust setup... So unless all 2.0L S2000's only make about 180whp with a an exhaust, then i'd say it reads low.

Either way, this header wasnt built for max top end power. Mostly just 5k-7500 or so. It is a budget header afterall...

Since I'm the owner, I'll go ahead and reply .

You are correct, these numbers were in fact 4th gear pulls on the DynoPak. This was done as its the closest to 1:1 as far as ratio goes for tuning and proper A/F readings. Please look at image number 3 for what your looking for as far as peak power numbers.

A few facts about the car/mods/setup. Running Summit RPM switches for cam switching, Calum Realtime ECU for tuning, CustomSteel adjustable cam gears (running +4/-4 currently), N1 VE Cam Gears, HotShot 3" CAI, 2.5" Exhaust to the rear end with a 3" muffler, test pipe was installed during these runs as well. These runs are also on the stock G20 maf.

Here is the proper way to look at the images.

1) SSAC to ASP Untuned (4th Gear)



2) ASP Untuned to ASP Tuned (4th Gear)



3) The fan boy run, this is the usual 3rd gear pull that results in higher numbers. (3rd Gear)



4) The cross dyno graph (3rd gear)



Currently I'll be going back shortly with +5/-5 setup on the cam gears, I'll be looking at the difference between the CAI vs WAI setup, also I'll be testing with a 3" MAF as well for less air flow restrictions.

I will also mention when we tuned, we only used the fuel map and timing map adjustments, the tuner and I have been sitting and discussing TunerPro R/T, and we will be doing additional tuning next with the VE Map included in the software/bin mapping location which should yield additional adjustability, much like a EManage or AEM setup.

This DynoPak setup does indeed read low, I had the chance to run on a inertia dyno (DynoJet) recently after I ran on the DynoPack which yielded 201-204hp pulls based on vehicle temperature. Once I receive the dyno images from that company I will gladly post them as well.
