let talk the potential of standard sr20ve primaries and custom secondaies
i am thinking of experimenting with sr20ve primaries and custom secondaries

has anyone else done this?

what did you find worked best?

Will be run with a 3 inch exhaust and no cats or mufflers

search on sr20freak and burns header, they seem to have flow results for sr20ve's

what i think he is reffering to is using the stock sr16/20ve header primaries, and make a custom length secondary with collector...
i have done this but with a ssac with burns 2-1 merge and megaphopne with reverse cone.. no dyno, car needs a tune ect.

*if i misread forgive me.

yes this is exactly what i mean

what length did you go with on the secondaries? also what size collector?

their are a few reasons why i want to use standard primaries and custom secondaries;

1. it will be going into a rwd, so cheep ssac, fugi or even turbofreak headers are not an option. I have to have custom secondaries no matter what.

2. Fugi headers have put out some good results (yes not quite as goog as some, but still very good). Now i am under the impression that fugi modeled their header after the sr20ve one, in fact so much so that the length and dia are virtually identical. Its the secondaries where the modifications start.

3. cost and convenience. I have some standard primaries sitting in my shed, so if the do a good job mated with some nice secondaries then it will make my life a whole lot easier.

4. The engine is not going to be "crazy as" modded where every last bit of flow is essential. I am not going to go huge cams and huge redline, where a 4-1 header will shine. I do want some midrange though, where the 4-2-1 will shine a bit more

ok for the record i am thinking of 10-12inch secondaries with a 60mm (2.36inch) collector and a long transition pipe (around 6 inches) from the collector to exhaust

Are sr20ve primarys rare or something? Ive got one sitting on my garage floor. I kick it everytime I see it cause its always in the way.

20V primaries are the good/better factory manifolds, not the regular sr20ve ones.

Have you had a look at the 20V design? I have made a copy of the 20V extractors to suit the N14/N15 engine bay as the original 20V wont allow you to use A/C. I have some pics of it if needed. You could of course use the same design on a RWD application. Extractor with the secondary pipe cost me $800 to make and is all mandrell bend.

6-8" 1.875" stepped to 2" for 6" then 2-1 merge 2.25" choke 6-7 deg flare to 2.5 or 3".
