with a DE manifold, its not worth it. The runners are too short and really wont help much. the VE's are long enough that you maybe able to get somethin out of it.

It is easy to build a RWD header though for an SR from scratch ( well i think so)

i was more meaning an aftermarket de manifold, but i dont really want to do that. I would never attempt it with a de standard cast iron unit, its a pos.

I hope/reckon it might just fit anyway, i just went out side and looked at my ve block and standard header and compared it to the sr20det sitting in my 180sx and i reckon it should just clear.

Bringing up this old post as we've been experimenting with custom secondaries down here in NZ. EVLNXR used the VE primaries with custom secondaries & he made up a copy of my Burns collector which was 1.875" into 2.25" choke then transition to 3". It worked well but not as well as his 20V header.

Speaking of which, the Burns killed the flow through the exhaust on my car. I changed from a Fuji header that had a 2.5" mandrel bent system from the secondaries back to shortened Fuji secondaries with the Burns welded on & a 3" system & lost flow. Darryl (EVLNXR) last week removed the Burns & welded the Fuji collector back on so now I have shortened Fuji secondaries the same length as the primaries.

This modification made an instant change with the mixtures going from 12s to as high as 16 across the whole map & after tuning the car is a totally different animal. I'm not convinced a 2.25" choke is big enough on 4-2-1 header if the engine has headwork & high compression. I would really like to make some new headers as per your design above Ted but with a 2.5" choke instead of the 2.25" one. Have you ever tried going bigger on the choke?
