question on running in built VE on DE header/zorst.
Just a question, I have my built ve motor with fs4 cams, raised cr etc running on the std jdm cast manifold and stock exhaust, which is no more than 2" I'd say.

Now this was done just to get the car started up etc so it can be taken for it's full header and 3". But the exhaust shop is closing now for the holidays and will only re-open early in January.

Will it hurt my motor to run it in with this setup? i.e. below 3500-4000rpm? The ports are about 4mm off and the diameter of the entire system is very small off course.

It will run I am sure, but you will not be taking advantage of anything. It won't hurt the motor at all. Just run open header

Thanks Coheed.

At this stage I'm not concerned about performance. Just want to put about 1000-2000 gentle miles on the motor to break it in before having it tuned etc.

Was just curious if the added backpressure or chocking manifold/exhaust could do any harm at all.

you'll be fine, don't switch on the big cam until you have gone 1k km

Yeah Ben you must miss it. I think we have the second or third most holidays in the world! lol Can thank the ANC for that.

I may be coming to the US for a 2 month long training session in 2009. Hoping that pans out. I wonder how many motor parts can fit in my luggage? he he

forget that, get the header and tune then beat on the motor, i don't understand why ppl thing you have a break in period for a motor, it's not a clutch.

I told him to break it in hard but he don't want to.

Will be Pensilvania.

I think the motor has been though a lot of abuse as is, just trying to get the standalone to fire it up. I did the entire standalone installation myself. Was my first time so lots of trail and error. But it's up and running now

I will probably to a moderate brake in. Just want to get the rings to seal good. I know the engineering work on the motor is top notch, but still just want to give it a little while before hammering it.

ps: I read in ashton's 2.2 Ve build, that he is getting 250psi (1750Kpa) with the stage 3s. I have only driven about 5 miles so far, and I'm only getting around 1350kpa give or take accross the board. We're both aiming for around 12.5:1 CR. Is there supposed to be a measurable relationship between CR and your cylinder pressure measured this way? I'm using FS4 cams that are dialed in, and I think that may have something to do with it. Still, 250psi seems high!? Even taking into account the altitude difference.
