a 300whp n/a car like the sentra (weight related) should be a low 10 if not playing around in the 9's, as to going all the way to a 2.5, that maybe a little out there, i dont see why not try it, but try for a 2.4 see how much clearance you have left. it's really a hell of an idea, i want to do the much i can with the 2.0 merging to 2.2 eventually. i say go for it dude, we need big cams made anyways. i want to make 260 whp in my 2.0/2.2 and i know damn well it's possible. cuz if an inferior B series can do it, why not us?? we just need the right cam profiles! im an all motor guy and will do the most i can to get to that goal, i hope you dont stop until this beast set up is done. if not something near it. the honda n/a camp will go down!

exactly, its the plain and simple fact of cams, thats our biggest downfall. What i dont get is why we are trying to rely on companies not even from the US to make cams for us. There are a crapload more companies here in the US that make serious hp cams for honda motors all around. Crane, Comp, and much much more. I would think someone needs to go to them. I think it would also be cheaper in the longrun. What we need to do is provide say a set of 20ve cams or N1 cams along with the set of 20v cams to have at least the low lobes at 20v profiles being they have been proven to make the most lowend power and torque then have them make a killer high lobe profile for big build setups and for 2.0 setups. Honestly i dont think its really the size of the motor thats gonna make a difference on the way a cam performs. I think if someone made a killer cam period that it would be fine on both 2.0-2.5 L motors. Just like Toda's Vtec killer cams thrown on a stock b series with basic boltons will still make a crapload of power. It does not matter on the size of the motor. The bigger the motor yeah the more power it will make with the cam but that goes period. A bigger motor does not need a different spec cam. Make a killer cam that will make insane power both on built high compression motors and stock ones. There we go. No need to have several different spec cams.

Thats my whole thing on all this cam argument.

Why so custom and not just get a BC stroker kit for the SR and call it a day?

cams are not the problem...

it seems like im the only one trying to talk any sense on this topic. everyone else that knows more than i do is staying away...i can see why

Cams will make power with a bigger motor, but only so far. A short stroke engine takes advantage of high rpm breathing efficiency, with less strain on parts. You can add displacement with the bigger crank but you shift the powerband in two ways.

First off, bigger stroke necessitates better low rpm breathing. Not the best for a RPM cam. The big issue is getting all the parts to work together so that you make the best powerband. Otherwise it is like putting on a huge turbo and keeping the stock exhaust on there.

Keep the motor square, but 92mm is pushing it a lil too far for me on the bore. I would try to stay stock on stroke and bore to 90mm. That way the rod ratio gets as close to the sr16 as possible. Then I would start with the N1 cam and go from there. Think big flow, and short stroke and rev high to make the most power. No matter what you do, the SR won't be a torque monster NA, port velocities are too low at low rpm and the problem isn't going away with tons of port work

True, i think even a 92/92 sr with n1's could make some serious power even only reving to 9k. I mean usually for the most part n1's when geared properly make peak power at around 8200 rpms even on the 2.0's but still make hella good power all the way to 9k instead of dropping off like the stock 20ve cams. So either way its something that could be tried. But i still think there are better possibilities with having a killer cam made by a company here in the US. There is no need to go outside the box even though outside US companies are the only ones that have tried so far. But has anyone gone to crane, or any other US based company to have cams made. No, the answer is flat out No and why is that.

I would think it would be way cheaper. I mean hell if a K series build can have crane make them a custom cam to go with their motor i dont see why not this one too. I mean it was not an off the shelf product it was custom. I bet it didnt cost them any more than it would cost to have franklin or kelford do cams for us and get them here. But if they dont work well then you have to go through the hastle of sending them back out when if you did it here you save 10X the time it would take to go overseas

I say we just start here. Why not. There are plenty of good cam companies here that can do the job. And if Andreas has all these so called specs that makes it all the easier to have a set made by a company here. So why did this not happen, I think its because Andreas is more talk than anything. He waits for others to come out with stuff and then still doesnt like it. Oh well. Thats a whole other deal. So lets stay on the subject.

Easy, in terms of quantity of engines being run in the US, K motors are the Jap Car equivalent of the Small block Chevy. SR16/20VE are the equivalent of the Ferrari 5L V12. There are a lot of those K motors and probably if 2.5% of the people that have them want to buy a cam they can sell enough to make money. If 50% of the people with Nissan VE stuff want to buy a cam they will seel 5% as many cams as the K stuff. Plus as has bee pointed out on this and other forums, no one is running down to the store with the $1,000 that it would take but the Honda guys seem more inclined to spring the bucks free. JMO

Thats true but if someone really wanted it done they could here. Again that race motor k build had a custom spec cam made. Not an off the shelf cam, a custom one. So yes if someone had 1k to go have a set made they could. So why hasnt this happened even with the ones having huge builds. Well there are very very few, I mean my buddies 2.2L 12:1 with n1 spec cams is one of 2 that i know of. So yeah it shows how many people are actually doing something. Very very few. But hey if someone could be out of the ordinary (not honda) and show what the ve can really do maybe more people will be wanting to do it. I know i myself even with a stock block ve motor have put the thought into many honda owners heads. Cuz they got smoked. hahahaha

I'll concede that. So, of all the 2.2L builds being talked about and done why doesnt someone call Scooter at Comp Cams and get him interested. You or I may not be able to source cam blanks but I bet that Comp can. If I had the bucks and desire that is who I would call. Crane is probably next if I was thinking of it. Call their tech line and press "2". Talk to Tony.

That may be an option, ill have to look them up and might do that. We should be dynoing the car sometime next weekend if all goes well. We will see where we are at with these and go from there.
