Theres a 2.2 sr that made 280 and ran 11.4. Still the pinacle.

That 2.4 is a stock block and crank, oem quality.

Theres plenty of k20s making those numbers.

This is fact a hundred times over. dollar to dollar, street to street, 1/4 mile to 1/4 road coarse to roadcoarse. Out classed out gunned.

Go read up on drag cartels ks making 400whp all motor and hitting low tens. We struggle to break into the 11s all motor or turbo.

Stratton.

The sr20ve will never be a k24a2, BUT i do think its very capable whether naturally aspirated or forced induced. i am very knowledgeable on sr20s and i have been playing with them for a very long time, from designing my own daughterboards to complete engine/transmission rebuilds. but thats all i have been doing and that is "playing around" i never took it serious, my current build is a simple stock sr20de custom holset hx40 aem ems with a few goodies and it makes healthy power. now with that being said i built that setup with VERY little effort if any at all and even though i refuse to post numbers at this moment i think many on this forum would be happy with it.

I have forged pistons aftermarket rods sr20ve block and head cams springs retainers waiting in my room and i think if i put 5% more effort i can easily make 700 + hp with a better turbo setup. if i were doing this to compete i dont see why i couldnt make 1000hp. the only real draw back to this is i think most sr20 owners arent trying to be the biggest and the baddest or even the fastest in the world, i believe most are just looking for a fun healthy setup, most are doing this for a learning experience hence why most of us here do it ourselves.

If you have money out the ass anything is possible but not too many fwd sr20 owners have money out the ass so to me the only limit to the sr20ve is us ourselves. this is why i give those who are doing new things and pushing the limits of sr20s the up most respect and congratulate them for atleast trying. Even if your build fails, you can only consider that a learning experience for the future. I am possibly responsible for the death of over 100 sr20's but i always tell people every time i blow one up i just learned a new way how NOT to blow up an sr20

They also have low weight on there side.

Nissan motors make more torque which is good but that HP and high RPMs seem to get the overall edge.

We just need to do our thing and make ourselves happy.

The SR is a great motor, the hondas just had the lightweight chassis and stronger trans. Our motors are superior to the b-series. Bar non. The fact we can make 700-800+whp without sleeving the blocks already has an advantage. That and when sleeved we still have the closed deck block working for us.

Hondas were just the more obvious choice for whatever reason that was. VTAK im assuming. But hey doesnt matter. We can still put a hurting on a lot of Hondas out there both turbo and N/A. We are in it for the love of our cars and the SR motor just like the Honda owners are in it for the same reason.

But yeah im with you Rob........Honda sucks. lol. j/k

#1 reason why Honda has more support than us/ more of them on the rd. US PRODUCTION K20+K24 cars. if the VE engine landed in the us back in 1997 the game would probably be different.

hell in the begining people thought the k20 engine was crap.

Very true, the se-r even in 91-94 was very limited production compared to the hondas, same goes with the 200sx vs the eg and then ek hatches. Not to mention a pretty good weight difference. But the support really began to kick in in the early 2000's. Before that, most manufacturers had an even amount of support as far as basic bolt ons go. Hell look how long jwt has been around, we had their ecu options before hondas had most of their's. Hell even back in 03 most turbo hondas you saw on the road were still using an FMU as their "tuning" device. lol.

BTW, the first honda ran 9's in 1999 and was the first fwd import to be in the 9's. There is a whole documentary on this. I know Miko had mentioned that there were 9 second hondas and nissans back in 98 but again I dont see any proof of that. The car was a bright yellow civic fully gutted, lexan, wheelie bar and big tire making about 450whp on a H-series. After that happend there were many to follow. 2000 was a huge year for import fwd drag racing.

Again had nissan made some better decisions on the cars and motors they brought to the us, it would have been a different story.

Here is an article done on the whole even along with the vid. So again, unless their were super secret squirrel 9 second runs before this by a honda or nissan. This is well know to be the first 9 second fwd import. End of story.

I remember when the K series came out and most people were still sticking to b-series swaps and so on. Even now the fastest fwd hondas are still all b-series cars.
