Even I haven't done it yet I have been looking at some graphs and no torque is lost

There shouldn't be any "loss of torque", although it may feel like it as you are moving the power band up a bit higher with a step-up in exhaust size. What you lose on the bottom you gain on the top. However if your exhaust system flows nicely altogether you probably won't feel much of a difference. If you are keeping you primaries/secondaries all the same size, and the scavenging effect of the exhaust gases has already taken place than going bigger after that is a good thing! Anybody want to add to that??

Edit: See below what cory said. I was beating around the bush but I kinda said it here (see bold above) ^ Bigger is good and sounds better/deeper too! First part of statement was in general.

My 3in VRSexhaust system only looses roughly 3whp vs running open header on my current set up.

I am a big advocate of 3" on a VE car... It's so loud when the cams crack it makes baby's cry and white women clutch their purses. I haven't confirmed if its the VVL pop that does that or just being myself but nonetheless... the awesome is confirmed.

ooh yeah, specially when you go under a long bridge or tunnel when the sound bounces of the walls and makes it sound even louder

Interesting on this 3" exhaust set up on vvl motors...So i just did a sr20ve swap in my b13 and had a 2.5" exhaust to a stock muffler. I bought cheap ebay headers when i did my sr20de swap and reused the same header on my ve with the 2.5" exhaust and stock muffler. After putting about 500+ miles to break-in new BS clutch..XTD 6 puck sprung clutch which i was running stock DE ECU/MAF to break-in I got my hands on a chipped ECU by JWT for ve maf/333cc injectors. I hooked up the MAF/ECU and on my way home i ran the car 1st 2nd 3rd gear and it felt like a beast...she just kept going and going...pulling really hard. Next morning I got a 3" exhaust installed from the flex pipe (2.25") straight back to a 3" resonator to 3" inlet/outlet muffler. THE CAR DOES NOT FEEL THE SAME!! The power loss is very noticeable...now the clutch has been slipping very bad at high RPM and quick shifts since the new exhaust...what do you guys think?? Get a better clutch, header, check to make sure both cams kicking in??
