Ok Im a bit late for the discussion.

Im going to give what I have learned and know.

Im Edrick the one from Puerto Rico mentioned a few pages ago.

I wouldn't say the cams are CRAP exactly...they were on my car for a few months and I had fun with them with my setup only problem I had was a compression of 11:3:1 which I know that 12:5:1 would be the way to go with this cams so you can get more fast response or more torque from down low.

this cams scream and feel really good from 6 to 7k until 9,800rpm or 10k easily I took the car MANY times up there with no problems on this Kelford cams and springs.

other Note my cams were custom built for my application they are not the ones they post on their website...the specs are a bit different.

My kelford cam specs:
Intake ------------Exhaust
Valve Clearance: 0.010" 0.012"
Cam Lift: 0.311" 0.293"
Rocker Ratio: 1.65 1.65
Valve Lift (net): 0.503" 0.471"
duration @ .050"camlift: 246 246
centerline @ peak lift: 102 atdc 108 BTDC
cam timming @ .050" camlift: INTAKE OPENS = 21 btdc Int. Closes 45 ABDC Exh. Opens 51 BBDC EXH CLOSES 15 ATDC

remarks: tappets at cam- in .006 - Ex .007

I degree'd the cams and found that the duration numbers where a bit different.

Exhaust: 249
Intake: 249

Lift
Exh: .456
In: .495

Working with shims is time consumming and not so fun at all but you MUST do it in order to get this cams to work correctly.

the cams did have plenty of power only thing is the duration made it REV the hell out and make the power band very very high...I liked it since the sr16 tranny help a lot.

but for low rolls its not so good.

I decided to give the N1's cams a try and bought them...they felt good and had more power from mid range to 9k...over 8.8 to 9k they start to feel not so good as kelford as they kept going.

power wise Id say the car is almost the same just with a better power band with the N1's

but I am certain this kelford cams are a good combo for high compression or more displacement engines.

I can be contacted and will help with no problem if anyone needs it.

I will be selling the Kelford and N1 cams soon since I have decided to quit the N/A Game.

so if anyone is interested on the kelford cams let me know I can sell them for a much better price than what you will get them from kelford plus shipping and they are like new.

I have a set of sr16 pistons with notch ready to go with them too or you can get mazworx cp 12:5:1 for this cams which I think they should be great.

anyways Ill post more info when it comes to my head im out.

and one more thing.

Keep the good work guys no one is going to do the homework for you everyone is just sitting on their computers waiting for mirracles I really admire all of US who decide on doing a litte of R&D our selfs and not afraid to test and see stuff for our selfs.

because every engine IS NOT THE SAME even if they are all sr20ve engines one engine won't work or give performance as an other so this is why you can't go counting on some ones findings and numbers and think you will get the same..this has been seen lots of times here.

I agree with you Edrick, built motor cams need to be put on a built motor. My old high compression Franklin S4 build made 134wkw on our dyno and there would have been more if the exhaust & headers were more optimal.

We had 2 unopened blocks running FS4s at our dyno day that made just over 121wkw or about the same as SR16VE cams but with less torque. It's not that the cams are bad, it's that they aren't being used in the type of engine they're designed for. EVLNXR put the FS4s in his 20V using the 20V header & 3" & made the best wkw we've ever had which makes sense as they're designed for 11.5 compression or higher.

Still have the FS4's & I'm sorely tempted to put them back in the engine once the final Kelford testing is done to see how they compare. Very happy with the Kelfords though, they were great on the track on Monday. Can't wait to see how they go on Donttazmebro's high comp, big displacement build.

Just thought I'd mention for your US guys, if you were thinking about buying nz cams now would be the time people, NZ dollar is only 52 us cents!
So you'd be able to pick them up for about $500 plus shipping, half price cams!

Also any update on the Dyno?

A member on here reshimmed his VE head before and mentioned the secret was harley davidson for shims. They are identical apparently and can be found at the local dealer.
