I want 20vs on the bottom and 14 degrees more than N1s with .5mm more lift. I dont want anything crazy.

Hey Miko, I have dealt with the guys at kelfords a couple of times not fr sr stuff and they are really good, they are really easy to deal with and really knowledgeable. I live in Christchurch NZ (the same city as them).
Their cam grinds definitely work and work well. Also they have a CNC cam grinder so there will be absolutely no issues what so ever with quality. This also means that they can produce a cam to what ever spec you want them too quickly and accurately. As for having N1 and 20V cam specs i'm not sure. They definitely have N1's as they make the N1 grind which they recommend for all street motors but you would need to talk to them about 20v specs.

Also check there website again (if you haven't already) As they have recently redesigned there race profile - S184C it now has smaller low lobes and better midrange, they are similar duration to N1 but more lift and appears to be close to what you want.

12.75mm lift inlet and 12mm exhaust is awesome.

I'll be using their race profile on my motor as to me it seems like a good step up from the N1.

To kesi24: their older race profile was a bit larger it had an advertised duration of 285 on the small lobes! so if you are wanting something bigger than what is listed on their website the bigger profile would still be available you would just need to talk to them about what you want and they will design it to want you want. So 9k and 300whp NO PROBLEM!

Also these are new Cams ground from new billets not regrinds.

Hope that helps.

Nick

My name was Nick m on the other forum as well.

I am not in anyway affilliated with Kelfords in, im just letting you know that my dealings with them has been good and i'd have no problems dealing with them again.

The link i gave you is to kelfords online shop. If you want to ring and talk to them they guy to talk to is kevin ban, he is the owner/profile designer.

They also do springs to match and i think titanium retainers as well although i'm not sure about retainers.

Kelford are great guys to work with...I have been using their cams for a year now and they do work good.

Kevin is the one to get in touch inside kelford

the thing is as stated by others this cams are not meant for a bolt on only sr20ve...which thats why I'm swapping to N1's....

but the cams didn't disappoint me they did bring me good kills (evo 8, hybrids etc...) car felt strong but the powerband is crazy they keep pulling and pulling non stop, I rev till 9,700rpms on kelford springs too and no problems what so ever..

N1's will get my power down hopefully and more suitable for street use...kelford and my 4-1 header seem more appropriate for higher compression and more drag than street.

but anyways Kesi give me a call or something...I can help you out if you want with this kelford cams so you try them or something

specs on mine are

255 @.050 duration for both
12.0 lift on exhaust
12.5-7 on intake

Here are some copy/paste from my emails with keving back on august and september 2006 when I was making my custom cams with them...

this are quotes from many email conversations I will just try to put any valuable info here...so it might not make sense as a complete sentences or something since their different emails...but you guys should figure it out.

Kevin @ Kelford:

Our cams are much better designs than both of the other companies that currently offer camshafts for this engine. we have low harmonics for better valve and rocker stability and we have low seat to seat duration for good low and mid range, while maintaining high lobe ared for maximum top end performance.

We have already seen a few situations with this engine where people have used N1 or Franklin cams and made less power. So I am not going to allow people to purchase our cams unless they tell me their engine spec and then I will suggest a design that suits.

Like i just said to Chris, the cam spec we gave him is the same as we use in an Allmotor drag B18c that makes 240 at the wheels. (it is a very big cam)

Funny that FCS quote rpm figures for valve float, because we are the only people in the Sothern Hemisphere and one of very few in the world that can measure spring frequency and relate that to cam harmonics, everyone else (including some major Japanese companies) just guess...

We would definatly use a lower duration exhaust, (unless it is a methanol engine)
The large exhaust cam will loose a lot of low and midrange power on a short rod engine like you have.

Franklin measure their cams at a strange setting...no one measures duration at .008" valve lift, it is not relavent to anything and not comparable to anyone elses cams.
Also they havn't worked out the rocker ratio correctly, a .313" lobe will does give .470 valve lift, also the low lobes are too small in duration, the differance from these to the big lobe is too great and there will be a problem at switch over.

Those stage 4's will never work.

Our spring will take 13mm lift easy and over 10000 rpm

we can get over 13.5mm lift in without hitting the retainer on the stem seal.

I hope this helps many of you...

I will borow Digitek cams and see how they work on a 2.3L motor.

This will give us a good starting point on what to look for and I can compare them against N1s.
