Differences Between SR16ve and SR20 LSD Tranny?
I broke my sr16ve tranny and got a replacement for it. However my tranny had some fins on the housing (for cooling), but noticed the one I have doesnt have these and look just like a SR20 LSD.

I was told the fins come on the later model (my car is Year 2000) and the box I got came from a 98 VZ-R.

Can someone please tell me how you can identify a SR16ve Tranny from the physical features? Apart from the fins?

All SR16VE trannys come with fins on them.

I have never ever seen a SR16VE tranny without fins on it.

So, as far as I am concerned you did not get a SR16VE tranny no way no how.

In the USA the finned trannys started on cars from 09/01/97

Only noticeable difference (from SR20 LSD), is a sensor to the front of the bell housing. That is not on my old SR16ve tranny either so I dont even know what tranny I have gotten.

Wonder what it is for

If you have a sensor on the front of the tranny it can only be 2 trannys.

1. P10 94-96 LSD USA
2. B14 95-97 LSD USA

This sensor does not come on the JDM cars. It is called a crank position sensor. Your JDM tranny will have the notch on the tranny for it but it will noit be drilled out.

Ok. The seller is adamant it's SR16 box so dont know if the housing was changed. He's prepared to take it back if the ratios are not the same. He has also said we could pull the tranny and check the ratios.

So, Dre those trannies u listed, how different are the ratios from the sr16? What is the final drive on them? How would 1, 2 and 3 feel?

Heard the sr16ve and later primera trannies are stronger so would that mean that the p10 and b14 trannies would be significantly weaker than the sr16?

Thanks.

Look I have nothing to gain from this.

The tranny is not a SR16VE tranny.

SR16VE trannys are not stronger than the DE trannys. They are the same box strength wise with a diffrent housing.

SR16VE, B13, P10 and B14 trannies are all the same as far as strength.

FD SR16VE 4.43
FD SR20DE 4.17

Your getting Bull $hitted. First they tell you the early SR16VEs have the old style tranny housing ( Bull$hit ). Now you heard the SR16VE tranny is like the later P11 trannys ( Bull$hit )

How much $hit they going making you shovel.
