No special AWG of wire would be required. Just match the wire size that is currently being used. You could even go bigger if you want, just try not to go smaller. 18 AWG would more then suffice, you could even do 16 if you wanted. The existing wire is probably (just a guess) 18-22 AWG.

I think some people have had issues with having their MSD box in the engine compartment. Cold and moisture conditions seemed to have affected the stability of the unit in these cases. Others have had no issue with having it in the engine bay area. Personally, I like the idea of having it inside the car somewhere, as it keeps it away from the elements.

Hmm, I'm wondering if I should set mine a little lower. It seems under normal driving I rarely go over 4500 rpms with the 4.44 gears, perhaps I may benefit from dropping it down to around 4800. I have it set now at 5000

Hey yea...i bought my car with the vvl already swapped to it. N it seems the guy that put my msd on wired it straight to the battery but with no switch. So it kills my battery in a matter of hours. Since im not to familiar with it i was wonder if someone could help me?

....shouldnt kill in a matter of hours, otherwise your battery sucks, mines wired right into the battery and lasts for weeks before its enough of a drain to drain the battery.

Thats wierd....i had an exide battery 35. But even if it was a crappy battery. I want the msd to turn on wen my car does. Cuz i also have a car alarm so i dnt wany msd and car aarm to stay on 24-7

It is the number three ecu wire on both b13 (OBD1) and b14 (OBD2). And I think it's the same color on both, blue/orange.

I ran it straight off the battery with no relay because I didn't want to hunt down an ignition power source. I have had no problems with it, however, I'm using the MSD8950 which is basically just a glorified relay. The 8969 would be different and would be better off on an ignition source such as the cigarette lighter. I simply didn't want to hassle with it and did mine the lazy way as far as power.

I assume you're using the 8969. You can run a wire from your cigarette lighter to the incoming power for the MSD switch and that will supply ignition power to the unit.

I have a quick question (I know it's an old thread, but hopefully someone can chime in). Wiring it the way here controls both solenoids at the same time/same RPM correct? If you bought two MSD boxes, and wired them separately, can you control the switch over point independently?
