Hmmm, my dad has R12 gauges and it looks as if they can be converted for R134a relatively easily, and on the cheap!

EDIT: Called my dad and he confirmed the R12 gauges were hanging in the garage. ...

Here is my plan, and if a success I'll post a "how-to" write-up...

- Remove compressor and dryer
- Flush both sides, high and low
- Drink a beer
- Measure oil in new compressor, add as neede...

Most definitely replace the dryer, it's cheap and easy. And if you have both the compressor and dryer off you might as well flush the system.
