Going COP with an Aem ems
What do I need to run a cop setup with my aem ems?

I will be using the stock dis or a p12 or maxima cas.

Do i need 2,3, or 4 wire coils?

Do I need a Cdi box/ ignition module or when do I need this? I'm only n/a

I see a thread about cop with mostly VE or 20v valve covers but what fits the DE cover the best?

Looks like I can go with 2 wire coils with the aem ems. Plus 2 wire coils have the least amount of wiring.

3 or 4 wire coils have the igniter built in I think but are not needed since the aem is capable of driving the 2 wire coils. Something like that

After more reading I have concluded 2 wire coils really need that cdi box. Your going to get reduced spark or burn them out cause you have to turn the dwell up.
So I'm going to Toyota 4 wire coils. 3 and 4 wire coils are "smart" coils and have the built in igniters. So since I'm going to do this without a cdi box this is my best bet. It's a bit more wiring but no biggie.

Later I do plan on getting a nice trigger or cas to get a better signal and clean up the engine bay. I wish someone made a nice dist cap block off

You don't approve of my beautiful home-made block off plate?

Dale what's your cop setup. I'm getting conflicting answers on to run dumb or smart coils off the aem ems or use a cdi box etc and use any coil.

I see that most issues are people running waste spark setup with direct/sequential coils. They burn out because they firing twice as often.
