Thread: MSPNP or Nismotronic

You made the right choice man, nismotronic is about 50 times simpler then MS and is a true plug and play. JK tuning has so many. Ase tunes that when you upgrade your parts you can just upload a new base tune that matches your setup and then refine it. I have tuned with all sorts of systems and the Nemu is the best option for rwd and fwd DIY tuners. MS is great for cars that don't have true plug and play options but it's a huge pita to setup and tune for the first time user.

I wish jk tuning made a universal ems so I could rune other cars on it, the user interface is by far the simplest I've used.

To the OP, if you are planning on tuning the car yourself then you wouldn't need to choose the eTune option. I can provide you with a good base calibration to get the car going and you can take over the tuning from there.

I don't mind answering any questions you might have about your tune or what steps would be good to take while tuning and would never charge for that when using this system.

Debatable ??? Please JYB spit knowledge on how a chassis and the relation of 25yr old leaking capacitors , heat cycled voltage regulators ,resistors and IC Chips come together with a chassis ???? Please entertain us !!!

FYI .. I build PNP MS units as well.. All FWD,RWD Nissans OBD1,OBD2 and 32Bit B15 and 2000-2002 P11s .. The software is also simple to use and if your in SoCal or Bring your car (MJ from AZ came last weekend and I got a Boosted B15 32bit coming from Puerto Vallarta this next week) I am more then willing to show you how the system works and what it can do.. I will even tune the car and teach you at the same time... I have been trying to get people to learn to tune there own cars and I have always been willing to teach people as much as I know if there willing to take it all in... MS can do some super wicked stuff to like full traction control from front vs rear wheel speed sensors, Widebands per port or EGT per port for individual cylinder trim control and EGT over temp engine shutdown safety systems , Multi stage NOS or full Progressive NOS control.. It really is high level in what it can do..

This is very much debatable considering that 25 years take its toll on all manufacturing materials. This debate cannot be won based on the fact of age. Rarely do we come across an ECU issue on this forum, but rust takes these chassis out all the time. Honestly both ECU's accomplish exactly what they need to. But neither ECU can be compared. Ones cheaper than the other, one has more capability, one is universal while the other is purpose built. Really dumb to actually "call some one out" on something as stupid as this. Its just a car part.

Personally I do intend on using a MS on my xterra, but never on my P11. Also I would never recommend the MS to anyone without decent elec skills.

Any vehicle that has gone from a nismotronic to a megasquirt has seen great results. Old ecu's just aren't what they use to be, technology advances and us fwd Nissan guys seem to always get stuck in the past. A nismotronic MIGHT be the easiest way, But I like reach further then taking the easy way out, not only that but I want to extend my knowledge past our reflashed ecu's from 1996. Is a megasquirt easier then a nismotronic... Doubtful, but it is one of the ecu's that allows us to take our vehicles to another level of potential. And that's why I go and will continue to use Shagspeed megasquirt /shaggysquirt.
