Thread: MSPNP or Nismotronic

Well I can't make my mind up on which tuning option to use on my car. Anyone that has used both? I have read great things about nismotronic and I'm leaning more towards that option. BUT I dont know if I want to keep a 20 year old ECU that could have something fail inside of it. Also I will be doing my own tuning from datalog runs on the drag strip for full throttle pulls and on the street for everything else. So I need a software that isn't overly complicated to figure out.

The MS is $839
Nismotronic is $750 with another ecu since I can't have my car down to send in my ECU.

So which one should I go with and why? If you have used one or the other have you had any issues from it?

EDIT: I have a redtop SR20DET, stock T25 right now @14psi, FMIC, 3" downpipe and exhaust, walbro 255. Most likely going with a 2871 and 550 injectors in the future.

I've yet to have any hands on experience with either but am waiting on nismotronic to arrive. Got in on an xmas group deal on fb. Its was like $490 shipped. I would suggest finding an ecu from someone on the forum, they usually pop up for around 50$ which $75 cheaper then from nismotronics site and sending that in so your cars not down, But do factor shipping cost aswell. Alot of guys on here are running nismotronic and seem to be quite happy with it. The support seems to be great and looks quit user friendly. I've been watching all the video's they have and reading through all the threads to familiarize myself with the system as much as possible before it arrives. Dave

Awesome, let me know how you like it when it arrives. I have thought about buying a used ECU and soldering the board in myself also to save a little cash. I have already had one problem with my ECU though. Car was running like shit, turned out I had corrosion all inside of my ECU. Spent about a hour with electrical parts cleaner and got her going again.

+1 for Nismotronic. Shit, I should be getting paid for endorsing it so much :P

There are great DET startup configs, and since your setup is so common, it should run real good straight out the box!

Great, that will hook up directly to Nismotronic, and you can see/log the AFR in realtime whilst tuning.

Yep, if I go nismotronic and solder the board in my ecu I will have the money next Monday.

Well I have been talking to John from nismotronic. My mind is made up, I'm going to be ordering my board in about 2 weeks and installing it myself. Wish me luck lol.

You made the right choice. I started tuning on the NEMU and it is easy to use yet there are enough features to really dial in the car to get it to run correctly. Read a lot on it and take your time learning the software, you will not be disappointed.

Yea im considering paying the extra $50 to include a etune when I buy the board so its a little closer to where it should be before I start playing with everything. Would that be a good choice or should I just start from the base tune? That is $50 that could go towards my 5 lug hubs lol.

LOL I will have to figure out how to get my giant laptop to stay still in the passenger seat now. I might get one of the little netbooks to keep in the car for tuning and monitoring everything.
