Thread: weird jumping idle / Nistune.

Ok so I have this weird jumping idle issue. First of all before I get started my setup is a bone stock ve, N60 maf, Nistune ecu. What the car does is sits at at 750-800 rpm mark for 4 seconds, jumps to 1200 rpms, settles and holds at 1000 rpms for 3 seconds, then it falls back to the 750-800 mark and repeats the process over and over. I been trying to track down the source of this for a while,no luck. the only thing I can tell you is that one the coolant temperature reaches 200 degrees it starts to happen. Below that ,the car idles solid as a rock. Anyone know how to solve this issue or what needs to be changed as far as setting in the ecu???? This is a concern to me because this consumes a good amount of fuel during the idling process, it causes the duty cycle to rise, and richen's the air fuel ratio......

Sounds like one of the coolant temp VS fuel tables is your issue. See which table increases fuel around the 200F mark! Normally the fuel amount decreases as the temp rises.

Also make sure your using the right file for your bin! Which was always an issue with Nistune lol. I'm pretty sure you need to use the DE file and DE bin for your ecu. Do not use the VE bin

Problem is not actually solved, what I did temporary fixed the problem, noticed the same thing happening the next day of driving.



Using a de bin as far as I know, I will try to get this file sent out for you to take a look at though. What seems to be the problem is the Idle air control just seems to be popping open and closed randomly at idle just noticed that 2 days ago........ that is causing the issues I described in post one. When I first did this swap Jamie recommended that the idle be set at 1000 rpm......I tried that seems to work.... but it never tends to stay locked in at 1K it always eventually drops down to 750-800 rpms over time. A 1k idle also sucks down fuel.
