Determining specific points of when knock occurs?
Is there software available that can determine when the ECU switches over from the normal timing or fuel map to the knock map? I.E. the last cell value in the normal timing map where/when knock was detected?

On the other hand, would this be a viable approach to tune a timing map? Or are stock knock sensors not accurate enough? Is the best way really just doing power runs on a dyno?

I personally have not dabbled in this area, but what I have read in tuning how too's is that dyno tuning is the best option in for this and some tuners can dial in the normal maps to be safe and then just copy the map over to the knock map. Best to do some research on it though. Or talk to your local tuning shop.

The NismotronicSA Tuning Package not only logs when knock occurs, but also allows you to tune the knock system.

Made my order. Looks like this will be replacing the RT package?

Yes. The SA package offers much more than the RT package.

Thanks,

The Oem knock system is really only good for an oem setup. Once u have stiffer engine mounts the stock detection system gets thrown out the window.

Unless you have the NismotronicSA Tuning Package which allows you to tune the knock system for your setup, or disable the knock system.
