Thread: question for thoses that make there own drop down harness

Im working on making my drop down harness and im down to tryin to get the 2 bolts that hold the plug in that have solder in em how in the world did u get these bolts out?also how do i go about getting the plug off the board while not messing up the prongs? trying to save as much of the lil prongs as possible lol

also what size wiring should i use to wire everything up?

What plug are you talking about that has 2 bolts in it?
The only plug I can think of right now with a bolt is the ECU connector.

the white one with the bazillion prongs that run into the board, the side that connects to the obd2 side. you open it up and theres 3 but i got the middle one out and still have 1 on each side but with solder in em .

I actually took a small pair of cutters and just cut the pins off flush with the top of the board.

I couldn't get the damn screws out either.

it's expensive, but you need a de-soldering gun. They go for for like $300. If you take to an electronic repair shop they should be able to do this for you.

Solder suckers work just as well if you get the right one and know how to use them. Your $15 radio shack soldering iron will not do it either.

I use this one at work and is great for clearing the holes.

I doubt it would be worth the time or if it is even possible to clear all of the holes to remove the connector whole. Just cut them off at the board like JK said.

well after alil while i was able to get screws out and cut the board up and saved a good amount of length of the pins

what size wire should i use?
