Nicoxis, There is a reason I linked John (JKTUNING) and Dave (dfddfd2) to this thread. They know their stuff and could explain the benefits of the NEMU package better than I ever could.
As far as your question about how it stacks up against other Real Time tuning options, it is hands down THE BEST solution available to us! The extra input/ouput channels (for use with just about anything you want), the ability to data-log with the on-board memory, the wideband support and the Vendor support you get (here on the forum) are all reasons why the NEMU package is the top dog on the market. If you want to have the ability to tune similar to stand-alone ECU's, without having to pay stand-alone prices, this is what you want to get.
Currently, I have a Calum R/T ECU. It is a solid tuneable option as is the Nistune package. But neither one could compare to the NEMU package. It's not even close! The day that The OBD2 NEMU RT package become available is the day I will sell my Calum R/T.
If you are just looking for a TEMPORARY tune for your current set-up/ECU, I am sure that John or another forum memer could set you up with a basic tune for your set-up on a couple of chips, for a decent price. This would only be a temporary solution though. Having a high compression build means you need to have tuning abilities that you can change on the fly, in order to get the most out of your set-up. Especially considering you will need to make adjustments to avoid detonation from the high comp. pistons and low AKI fuel. The dual ostrich package is a waste of time, considering the cost.
I would not consider anything other than a NEMU RT package if you are looking to go ODB1!!
